Tranny replacement and EW issues...

To those who had their 04TL tranny replaced (I remember there were 4 guys here)...

1. Do you get additional extended warranty package (7yr/100k) after this replacement?

2. If yes, did your dealer automatically provide this to you or you have to ask for it?

3. If yes, will they hesitate to give you this when you already have EW? Or, they won't give it to you when you already have EW?

To those who had their tranny replaced for 2G TL, did everyone always receive the free extended warranty (7yr/100K) after replacement?

To those experts in these issues, will Acura provide any EW to you when they only check your tranny or add that so-called Oil Jet kit?

I'd appreciate all your opinions.

Rets, with the oil jet addition such an easy job (1.2 hours), and is not a major undertaking (no tranny removal) I would expect that Acura would not be willing to extend the warranty.

Now, if you make a big enough production when they replace your tranny due to a poor inspection (I hope not) I think you could get the 7yr/100k after they had to disassemble your car.

I think it depends on what they have to do, and your negotiation skills.

Good luck is all I can say and try for it, the only thing you have to loose is them saying no.

Thanks.

Sounds like the only chance to get free 7yr/100k EW is to have unlucky replacement of the tranny or any other unfortunate mistakes caused by dealers. I wish the worst won't happen on me.

With my 6MT replacement, I asked for and received a 70k mile warranty on the transmission. I have a lease that ends at 42 months/70k miles, so that was all I needed.

I had a 2G TL (2000) auto and received the warranty extension to 100K, but never had a problem with the tranny. I also had friends with hondas (Accord and Odyssey) who got extended warranties without having any problems.

When you asked for the warranty extension was it Acura Corporate who granted it or was it the dealership? Did you get paperwork proof of such?
