Trading TSX for a TL??

This really close friend on mine, he bought an '05 TSX few months back but now he wants a TL in WDP. He doesn't like the silver TSX and non navi. I was browsing craigslist and I found this WDP '05 TL auto with navi listed by dealer for $17K with 80K miles on it. We are going to check the car out tomorrow. Any specific things I need to look for. Any known issues? any transmission problems?? All help full tips are welcome. This is the first time we'll be dealing with dealer so I don't really know how to start a possible negotiation.

I wouldn't pay $17k for it with 80k miles.

And there have been some trans issues with the 2005's as of late.

I'm not sure what to ask about or look for with the '05's, but talk to the dealer about getting an extended service policy for this TL-if he decides to buy it.

No problem! Hey, be really careful of the mileage too. 80,000 is a lot for any car. But realize that this is a Honda car, so it will run for a long time, but in 20,000 miles, the timing chain and the 100,000 BIG checkup is due too. So that is a lot to consider and talk about with the dealership.

stay away from cl when looking for a car... and I agree...17k is way too much for 80k miles... that car is worth no more than 14

You have to be armed with knowledge when negotiating with a dealer. Check out http://www.edmunds.com/car-advice.html for sneaky dealer tactics and things we should be aware of when buying from a dealer.

I know the situation is a little different, but I just got my 04 TL non navi 3 wks ago, and I only paid 13k. 17k is wayyyy too much, I would pay no more than 15k for this car you are talking about, even if it is spotless.

Car is already lowered and has some wheels on. anyone know if the owner was over here on Azine??

He offered 10 grand for TSX ('05 with 84000 miles, clean title, no dings, minor rock chips on the front and with 95% available service records) what do you guys think. Anyone in the bay wanna help us out with the deal and negotiation??

Is the TSX paid off? Are you upside down on the TSX? If, so that will be added onto the TL. Making it even more. Look up the TSX value in Edmonds to see if 10k is fair.

The TL looks nice in the pics. Good luck.

17k is little too much for an 80,000 mile car... tell your friend to be patient and keep looking.
