Traded TL for Evolution

He guys, traded my 2004 TL for an 2005 Evolution about 3 weeks ago. Tough decision but I was over on the lease miles and wanted something with all-wheel drive. If anyone is interested in a 6-speed NBP with no-navi, check a big Cincy Mitsu dealer and you'll find my old ride. It was perfect, never been back to the dealer since I bought it. Good luck with the TL's, very sweet car!

But don't race an EVO....I may take it easy on you TL guys but no promises...hehe

what kinda evo did you get? RS? MR?

so um... you registered just to share the fact that you no longer have a TL? strange, but congrats on your new ride. evo's are awesome.

If you note the join date, I've been on here since I started researching the TL a year ago. Just giving a heads up to anybody interested in the TL really. Didn't want a great car to go to waste.

Picked up an RS, I do miss the surround sound, power locks, ect. but its not too bad with the aftermarket radio. Everyone makes fun of the crank windows though...

Funny. I kinda went the opposite way by selling my highly modified wrx (330awhp) for the TL. Absolutely NO regrets on my end. Hope you feel the same way with your purchase!

I looked at both the STI and the EVO while I was car shopping. Although they are both bad ass when it comes to all out acceleration, I couldn't see myself in them after about a year or so. They just didn't have the total package for me. Call me crazy, but I see way more 2004-2005 TL's out on the road than EVOs or STI's. If they would have just toned those damn rear wings down a bit, I probably would have seriously considered getting one. Who knows, maybe in a few years, I may pick up one off a used car lot after the prices have come down a bit......

Apples and oranges, but if money were no object, I'd have both.

I test drove both and the Evo would be fun to mod, but the wifee thought the Evos were buzzy and rattly.

I also looked at both, but was very turned off by the cartoon style rear wing (and yes, I know it provides downforce over like 120mph...rediculous). The problem I have is that everytime I see one on the road, my friends say "target market buyer". Almost without fail, the driver is between 16 and 25 years old. Too bad they weren't around 10+ years ago because I would have had one. (I guess I sort of did because I owned a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 back when I was 22yo.)

I can only imagine what the insurance is like on those two cars considering younger average drivers, high horsepower and lots of potential for accidents! Yikes!

But the Evo is not a race car, so the 5 pounds they save in window motors is nothing.

But it can be. Someone has already gone 10's on the stock turbo. Every little bit counts.

I'm OK with paying $27K for a car without power windows. I agree its apples to oranges, funny on paper they are 4 door sedans with 27X hp, but other than that completely different. Mostly wanted to let you guys out there looking to get into a TL that mine's available at a Cincy dealer, its a great car, and you could ask me any questions about it (i.e. I didn't beat the clutch, it wasn't a lemon, how much I traded it for, ect.)

I got the one without the wing (RS) and my insurance went up $10 a month. Pays to not drive like a 16 year-old.

That's what my Talon is for. I'll run you, you can tell me how sweet my exhaust looks

Off topic, but since you are in Ohio, are you going to go to the DSM shootout in Norwalk on August 12-14??

Either way, good luck with the car, they are extremely nice!!

Curt Brown went 10's on the stock turbo, only Evo to accomplish this yet.

I looked at an Evo with leather, and I think it was overpriced. But at say $27K new I would have considered it. I also like the RS models and know a guy with one. I could see getting a used RS and modding that.

RS = waste of $. Not much less weight than the normal EVO 8 & not much cheaper either.

apples and oranges??? I'd say a white mushroom compared to a white truffle (truffle the fungus, not the sweet).

Congrats on your car. I test drove the Legacy GT & Evo before buying my TL. I loved everything about the TL but loved only ( 2 ) things about the Legacy GT and Evo...the torque of the engines and their AWD.
