Nice 330i...what made you trade your TL and, if you don't mind me asking...was there much of a price difference?

I couldn't stand the quality of the TL. Rattles everywhere. Paint peeling on the front bumper. ACS are terrible to work with. Vibration on the highway.

There is a price difference of $6K.

I really like the TL but I just couldn't stand the problems anymore.

The clutch is a different feel compared to the TL's. I think German cars have a different clutch feel than Japanese cars.

No surprise there with the rattles and ACS. Shame though.

After you drive the 330i awhile, please stop back and give us the plusses and minuses of each.

Enjoy!

Yes please keep us posted.

I writing this from the service lounge at an ACURA dealer. I'm at the third different dealer trying to get a vibration issue resolved. I may be looking at a BMW in the near future.

Yes, a RWD in NYC.

I thought by changing the wheels or tires will make the vibration go away, but it didn't.
I probably will never get another Honda or Acura car again.

I play a little game while driving called 'would ya trade fer'... making a mental note of the cars that drive past that I would trade the TL for. Boils down to a hotness/desirability contest. And yeah, I have to admit... I would for that 330. There are little issues with the TL. But quite frankly I stetched a lot to 30K, and I couldn't go a dime farther than that. I could see where someone who was able to stretch to 40K looking for something altogether different out of their car. Or someone who had owned a 'luxury' car already and knew what to expect, I'm coming from a CRV into the TL fer pete's sake. :-)

I love bimmers, but don't they have more reliabilty issues than Acuras(generally speaking, I have no problems whatsoever, but others do)?

I believe the 330i is rear wheel drive in all states including NY. I may be wrong though.

I have nothing against BMW. But if you think you are going to find a "magic" car with no problems, you are chasing a rainbow. There are a lot of reasons to change cars but I don't think it's valid to say that another car won't have "little things"

If they had the 330XI loaded for the same price as the TL(both newest gen), I would probably go with the Bimmer, if it was a new 5 I would plead no contest.

I am surprised we haven’t heard many people bash the BMW yet. Usually when some one trades the TL in for 330 you start to get a lot of the bashing.

But I for one like the BMW 330 and if I could get it I would. Just don’t feeling upping the car payment yet.

So did you even consider the new Lexus IS switching cars?

people do not be so worried that you cannot exist in a state where you get snow with a rear driver. The 330 is not a vette or anything like that... And the Acura does not have that geat quality. Those who think it is so great have not owned much for cars in the past. I have had several acuras and the 3g is by far the worst quality wise but has more features. I would give some features up to have better quality. Or pay more...

I know 3 people with BMWs and they have had fewer complaints then the TL owners. They are alos loyal to the brand. I know a number of people that will not get another acura. If they can afford better they usually do. The styling and features at a price is not worth the headaches that they said they were experiencing.

Bmw and a Tl

I currently own a Bmw Z4, Bent GT and an 05 tl. When i was shopping for the TL I test drove the new 330, 530, G35, GS, TSX, RL and the TL. Dollar cost was not the issue. I have owned many Bmw thru the years. The reason I chose the TL was for a daily driver and with the hash winter in chicago the Tl was perfect. The RL would be nice but it needs a V8. The TL's front wheel drive, great fuel mileage and quality of workmanship was a clear winner. I have other cars for summer fun but the TL for the dollar is the best bang.

I agree. A RWD car with proper snow/ice tires, like Blizzaks and competitors, will be better on snow and ice than a FWD car with its stock all-season tires.

I did consider the new IS350. I was actually going to get that instead of the 330i but the lack of a manual made me change my mind. They were both of my top choices at first. If I get a automatic, I will end up trading within a year for a manual.

Don't particularly like the BMW 330I. The styling on the exterior looks boring. Only thing that matters is if you like it. Hope the car treats you well

I traded my BMW for the Tl and I will never own another BMW again. Everything was going on the car and it only had 60k miles on it. They drive nice but the reliability is just not there.

I had a 1999 BMW 750iL Black on Black with M-Parallel Chrome 18s and Navigation and a V-12. I loved driving it and it had real presence but it was under warantee and was costing the dealer about $4k/year in this and that. The warantee ended and I got rid of it. It had 30k miles when I bought it and 60k when I got rid of it.

I know what you mean. I had the same complaints about mine.

When the TL was new everyone asked me what it was like. I always told them it depended on what kind of car they owned before. It's not so easy to own a TL after a nice German car, IMO.

Now I'm in an A4 again (2.0T) and couldn't be happier.

Although these guys do have a better forum...

i am sorry you got a bad car. well that happens.
my friend said he'll never buy toyota again after his Camary broke down by the way side.
another friend said BMW is the worst he's ever owned after repeated engine problems and rattles.
friend's girl friend swore she'll never buy MB again after electronic control system betrayed her on the side of a highway.

perception is everything in these cases. are Toyota, bmw, mb bad car manufacturers in general? I think not and i'm sure most people agree with me. but all it matters to me is that BAD one i got for some bad lucks. these problems usually don't show even through an extended test drive (always a good idea anyway). hope you like your new pony and good luck.

No it does not happen in a TL.

There was also a study that showed BMW owners get more of it than owners of other car makers.

I guess it works in china too, but in China, the girls want rich husbands even more than American womend do, now that they have seen that it can be much better to be rich.

BMW sells more 7 series cars (which are not made domestically and cary a price tag 2 to 3 times more than here in the states) in China than anywhere else in the world. So much for comunisim.

I also dumped my TL for a BMW for the same reasons as 6mtV6, except Acura picked up the tab.

The NBP TL was actually my third 3rd gen TL. I had a SSM 5at TL that I traded for a 6mt TL. The SSM had rattles, interior trim not aligned properly, door panel not fitted correctly. I thought it was just that TL that had these problems. I traded the SSM for a Anthracite 6mt. Had the car for a day. An hour after driving the car off the lot I saw that the paint on the fender was peeling and bubbling. Dealer gave me a new TL, which is the NBP.
