Traded her in...
Well, after 5 years I traded my 2006 TL 6spd MT in this weekend. Wanted to stay with Acura but since '06, Acura has gotten to boring and mainstream... They gave m $9K for her, noted the curbed up rims but never mentioned the cracked dash. 500 miles on the clutch and a new starter put in last week. I ended up with a 2014 Kia Optima SXL Turbo after writing a check for $28K including bumper to bumper warranty. I want to thank all you guys/girls here that helped me with troubleshooting and getting me in the right direction when my TL acted up. My husband passed away last year and not having someone to come home to investigate noises, pings or shakes made it hard for me to maintain the TL. Thank you all again!!!
Congrats on the purchase. I don't own a Kia but I can imagine some of their new cars are pretty nice. Good choice on getting the high end SXL model. Only thing I don't agree about is Acura getting boring after 06. I mean the Type as was reintroduced in 07 so maybe you meant since 09 ;-)
Enjoy the new car.
Enjoy the new car.
Thanks guys! I used the USAA car buying program and compared both the TL and the Optima but for $2K-$3K dif the Kia had all the bells and whistles. Plus 10 year/100K mile warranty. My husband bought me the '06 TL in '09 for my birthday, it had a lot of sentimental value but I just didn't have the know how to keep her going. You guys are a great resource for someone in my situation!! Keep up the positive advise!

ERDOC48, I paid $571 for the clutch but at that point at least I knew I was either trading or selling a good condition car.
As far as the USAA car buying, if you are a member go to their products page and at the bottom where it has car buying you can pick any make/model and it will tell you the dealers in your area that will accept the offer. For the 2014 Kia it came out to $4K off their base MSRP so from $37K to $33K minus the trade + the warranty, tax, tag and title. $28K

Haven't used the buying service from them yet, but we financed a used car through USAA which was an absolute breeze. If/when the time comes to replace the TL, I will have to keep that option in mind. I absolutely despise the car purchasing process/game. I bought a Scion before my TL because they didn't have as much game playing with their pricing/sales model. The car before that was purchased with GM employee discount for similar reasons. Anything that simplifies the process is good in my book.
Congrats on the new ride!

Kia has definitely stepped up^^^^ my cousin got one but the dark Grey one and I gotta say for a kia I would've never imagined in a million years they would build a car like that enjoy your new ride
after doing lots of research, etc. I ended up buying a 2014 Kia Soul. so far, very impressed with it after 3K+miles. Not getting rid of my tsx-have too many great memories with my late husband and mom.
My late husband bought me the TL in 2009 for my birthday... It was har dletting her go but I was beginning to feel like I was chained to the body shop he died at to get work done. They were always willing and great helping me with the car but I didn't want to stay tied to having someone else (them) help me for everything. I think he would be proud of my choice and the research I put into the Optima. Also having bought the TL in 2009 for $14K (she was a repo with 40K miles) and trading her in for $9K. -$5K in 5 years isn't bad.
