Trade-in value for TL 2008?
Trade-in value for TL 2008?
Guys,
Where can I find an estimated trade-in value for TL 2008 w/o navigation? Most of the dealers I went to told me that I can buy a new TL 2008 for $28,500. They said that Acura offers $2,500 incentive due to the release of new model in 2009.
I'm trying to trade my car in and the most I can get for it now is $26,000! I don't understand how can a car like Acura drop it's value by $5,000 in 8 months
Any suggestions? I'm confused ...
Thanks!

Basically, the moment you drive off the lot, the car is no longer new, therefore it is no longer valued as a new car. Used car values automatically take a hit. Cars also generally take their greatest depreciation hit during the first year. Additionally, the 2008 TL is part of a model that is on its last legs, which means they have started offering heavy discounts on them, which drives the prices down even further. Finally, dealerships try to suppress trade-in value as much as possible to try to maximize their profit. Combine all those factors and you will see why the value falls so quickly.

Sold my 06 on autotrader after 8 months in 3 days and sold my 08 Type-S on Autotrader for $33.9K last month after 7 months and 8k miles in 1 day. Oh yeah I am sick and I went and got another new Type-S for $33.2K (I was going to get a G35, but I just missed the Type-S too much after 2 days...).

Hmm.. didn't you lose money from the extra taxes that you have to pay again?

No dealer or Carmax is going to give you what you need on a <1 year old car, private sale or totalled in a wreck is only way to get decent money. The probelm you have right now is if the buyer is aware of the $2K rebate from Acura and that most dealers are selling at about invoice then you are competing with a $31-$32K new navi car. and probably $29k new non-navi. You can try advertising it for $29,900 and see if you get any bits. There will be people that don't know about the rebate and don't know how to negotiate on a new car.
