Trade in value for 2007 tl type s
Trade in value for 2007 tl type s
Hello guys wonder if anyone recently traded in their tl type s and what value you got for it. My car is 2007 copper bronze color, 25000 miles excellent condition. Dealer wants to give me $8500. Is that fair offer? Thanks
In the world of trading it into a dealer...it's "fair." I assume you are already aware that if you sell that car yourself you can EASILY get many thousands more than what the dealer would give you.

Based on the information provided, you could easily ask for and get more than $8500 if you were willing to sell on your own. Keep in mind that your car is a well sorted after model especially for the Acura enthusiast. Find the right one and you are well above $10K YMMV.
You could post here on Azine in the Black Market................

Thank you
Thanks for your replies everyone, I wasn't sure if it was a "collector's item". I wanted to trade it info for something awd. I saw listing for private sellers around 11k but still not sure to hold onto it for later.
Very very clean TL-S in the appropriate color and with the manual can fetch over 15k (one was auctioned off for 20k recently).
Bottom line: you can get ALOT more than 8500 when you list it yourself

It's not really a "collector's item" per se....but it has a bit more of a niche following (especially if it is in manual transmission) and a very clean example of a TL-S can fetch somewhere between 12k-15k. Low miles a plus

^^+1Your car (mine too) are to a certain extent unicorns, but yours with such low mileage will command a decent sum above automatics and other versions of the 3G - certainly a lot more that $8500.
Also not sure how it works in your state but if you were to sell on your own you may lose out on the tax savings of the trade in value against the purchase price of your newer car. However you can easily make up that difference in the private sale price vs trade in value.
Thanks for the advice. I'm honestly not sure how it works either. I always traded in my car and hold onto ones I buy for awhile. Not sure what I want I to do as I want to buy a new car soon since my other car is 13 yrs old too but has heavy mileage.
Don't be surprised if you trade in your car and then the dealer lists it for $15,999....
You're better off listing it on bringatrailer.com or carsnbids.com. I would try carsnbids.com 1st. It's simple. Take high quality detailed photos with an awesome description and keep your fingers crossed for solid numbers. It will end up likely going to an enthusiast who wants a very low mileage Type-S. The dealership doesn't give a flying shit who buys it. At least give this vehicle a chance to fall into the right hands. At the end of the day, your vehicle so do what makes sense to you, but all of us here will tell you not to trade it in.
25k miles for $8500? The thought of trading that in to a dealer makes me cringe lol. Like everyone else said do a private sale or try to auction it. You would have people knocking your door down even at $12k, who knows what someone would be willing to pay.
And said dealer will likely list it for 14-16k. They mark up used cars like crazy...especially in this auto market where prices are inflated all over
I hear @rockstar143 is looking for another TL-S! We all know he has that "itch."
Prime example
2007 TL-S 6MT with 105K, no additional packages. 2 days left, current bid at $8,700.00 which is already higher than what you posted for a TL-S that has only 25,000..

!!!!The advice you get will depend on the audience you ask.
As a seller of this vehicle multiple times I would be inclined to reply with "that thing is worth at least $12K"
As a potential future buyer I'm like, "dude, that thing is a piece of shit...not even made in Japan...I'll take it off your hands!"
Anyway, yes the automatic kills a LOT of the price. The fact that it's a type S means it has a more robust auto but there isn't
as much of a following...the carbon bronze is not for everyone either...although that happens to be my favorite color.
Bottom line, if this was manual, you and I would be having a private chat trying to figure out if you should sell, if I should buy
and a fair price that makes us both happy.

That kind of mileage on a Type S?? You're getting raped. Sell it privately and you'd get at least 6 or 7k more. At least.
Well, none of that really matters much since the value of used cars are higher and such examples as a low mileage TL-S can fetch more than any KBB ect.., especially if a 6MT.
