Torque Converter replaced and still having issues....
I am experiencing a driveline vibration/shutter. It is not really a shutter but I don’t know how else to describe it. The car doesn’t hesitate or the wheels don’t shake. I brought the car into the Acura dealer and they weren’t sure exactly what the issue was so they called Honda (I guess they called the main Honda technician line) and they told them to replace the torque converter. So they replace the torque converter and I am still experiencing this issue exactly when I hit 50 mph. If I go above or below 50 mph it goes away and the cars drives smooth as silk. If I stay at 50 mph the driveline vibration/shutter occurs and does not go away.
I took the car back and they said it was a normal characteristic of the car. They said it is normal characteristic of the 5 speed automatic transmission. Supposable when car is shifting into the higher gear it causes this occurrence. He explained it to me in more detail and it kind of made sense, but it sucks that I can’t drive at 50 mph without experience this issue. You would figure I should be able to experience a smooth drive at any speed I desire.
They had a used 06 on the lot that they are selling and I took that for a ride with the mechanic and the same exact thing was happening at 50 mph with this car. So this proved their theory to be correct and led me to believe it is a normal characteristic of the car.
Can you all let me know if you feel change in your drive when you hit 50 mph and stay at this speed? If not, please let me know what else can be causing this issue.

The dealer states this service bulletin is only for 04’s and my 05 already has the damper on it. He said if I want I can replace the one that is on there but, it would cost me $200 and it might not reduce the vibration. Again he states it is a characteristic of the car. Man this sucks! I was at the car wash on Saturday and there was a guy there who had a 05 and he said he experiences this same thing. Sounds like I am going to have to get use to this
tell him to show u the damper...can u even see it on ur car??? they did all the 04 things on my 05 as well its not like it doesnt count for it.....check ur build date... if it was an 04 build date some of the probs still carry over.... my build date was 12/04 and i had shit from both ends breaking that they took care of once i pointed out the build date on the car....it on the drivers door jam...maybe that helps or go to another dealer and get a second opinion. osrry man hope that helps....thats all i can think of

I had this same problem on my '05 over a year ago and noticed it within a few months of purchase (used). I approached the dealer, mentioned the Service bulletin, and he had the technician check the car and it already had the vibration dampener installed. They told me there was nothing else they could do for me. I was kinda pissed off, but after a year of driving, its either not there anymore or i'm so used to it and don't even notice it. BTW this only occured for me at 50-55pmh and at 2600-2800 rpm i believe.
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.
Maybe it’s a matter of getting used to it since I’ve been driving a 525i for the last 4 years. They don’t want to do anything else for me since I drove another 06 TL and it does the same exact thing at 50 mph. I will see what the other dealer says on Friday

It was getting really annoying for me and i had no time to bring it to acura; i was going to purchase the bulletin and do it myself. But after i installed my J-pipe the vibration went away.
