Torn seats

Has anyone used Lseat.com to replace their torn seats? Prices seem low compared to all the others I've checked .

their website show replacement for bottom cushion only, right? no replacement for your back cushion with the Type S logo on the headrest?

I did some review searching on lseat.com and people that have used them. The overall consensus (a lot of bmw and lexus owners from what i could find) was that the quality and fitment was much better than expected given the price point. There are a few youtube videos reviews and installations. Having said that, I ordered a leather sample from them and placed an order for Type S seat fronts. I am $420 all in being two tone seats, perforated leather, and thread color are options. Still a great price. I haven't received them yet, but I can post pics of the covers when I get them.

I am planning on installing them myself over a weekend. The FSM has full details on removing the old covers and installing new ones so fingers crossed it'll go ok.

I did mine in September 2019. Got the complete set $800-$900. I didn't do the headrests tho because i didn't order the headrest tool. I am ordering that tool pretty soon. Overall it took the whole weekend. Could've finished sooner with dedicated time and tools.

LSeat.com covers

I received my covers today from LSeat.com. Color match is pretty close. The holes in their perforated leather isn't as close to stock but I'm not going to be fussy about it, overall, I'm really happy with the covers. Now to install them.

I e-mailed Jerry, and, for $700, got leather replacements for the entire front seats. I expect them to be in about 3 weeks from now. Look for a new BM ad for my gently used front two-tone seats. They're in VERY good shape.

They took about 4 weeks to get.

I haven't done the seats yet, probably start them this week. I'll take pics of the install and when completed.

I did the center console yesterday. The original foam was totally gone. I had to full scrape off the old stuff, came off all gooey. I bought some insulation foam tape and recreated the foam on the sides and used the 3m adhesive spray to attach the cover.

No pics of the process but here is the finished product.

Does this kit come with headrests? On their site I haven't seen any pics of head rests for 04-08 TLs

The kit doesn't come with headrests which was fine for me as mine are in good shape. In reading the info on their site, it sounds like they will make whatever as long as they have the pattern for it and I read something like if you provide them with the existing covers for them to make a pattern from, then you will get 50% off of your order.

Sorry, It took me a little longer to start the cover replacement. I started with the passenger seat first as I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Having said that, this process wasn't nearly as intimidating as I was building it up in my head. Over all I would say if you start this from beginning to end it took about 4 hours for the seat. I took my time and went over everything twice, re-doing some of the hog rings that I did originally. I couldn't be happier with the finished product. I'll start the driver side sometime this week and post the pics of the completed job and anything else i may run into with that side.

Main takeaways are, take your time on disassembly of everything, reassemble slowly, hog ring pliers are a must (
got these from Amazon as they came with the correct size hog rings for the job got these from Amazon as they came with the correct size hog rings for the job
), just cut out the old hog rings vs bending them open, and having the factory service manual is key also which I believe is posted on this board but I can share it also if you don't have it. I literally checked after every hog ring, making sure everything was snug and I redid any hog ring that I thought i can probably get a bit better. The main seat back cover clip holders on the bottom have a tendency to break from what I read. The one side was fine but the other did crack on me but not significant enough to not hold on. You also reuse the attachment bars from your original seats, they just transfer over. Some holes are not pre-cut so once I got the covers on, I cut those in to get it absolutely right.

Passenger seat bottom. Hog Ring Pliers are your friend.

The most annoying part of disassembly and reassembly was the side airbag strap and clips.

Passenger seat back.

The ONLY problem I ran into was the J clip on the seat bottom. On this side, the fabric holding the J clip was a bit long so I folded it over and used hog rings instead.

Put together before using a fabric steamer and massaging the leather creases into place.

In the car and in the sun. Everything I read is that after a few heat cycles, the leather will tighten up so the any remaining wrinkles should go away. The wrinkles on the center console cover did which I did about 2 weeks ago I think.

How are you going to use a steamer to smooth the leather?

I researched a ton before doing this and a lot of info I read said that you can use steam to basically warm the leather and vinyl to make it more malleable when trying to smooth it out over the foam which is what I found to be the case, especially since I was working inside in the air conditioning. I could have done it in my garage as it was warmer but i didn't feel like sweating like crazy.

Your also not supposed to sit the steam on the leather for extended periods of time, just enough to warm it up. I would run the steamer over a section making quick passes, wipe it down with a towel and then move/massage that section on the foam to get it all lined up. I just bought a fabric steamer from my local costco for like $30.

I also used this youtube video as a reference.

Everything is done. The Drivers seat was pretty much the same process as the passenger seat. I was really taking my time with it, checking to make sure that the leather was laying correctly before moving onto the next hog ring. I found another video on youtube of a leather installation shop that used the steamer to steam the foam seat cushions which helped to restore some of the original foam shape. I ended up taking out the passenger seat again to steam the side bolsters and I did the drivers seat also. I wouldn't say it was a night and day difference, but it removed a lot of the creases in the foam caused by the old covers. Time in the sun has helped to smooth and tighten up the covers also, and I'm sure that it will still keep getting that way. It's definitely nice to not have cracked seats anymore, plus it smells like a new car in there now.

Thanks guys, I was hoping this would be helpful. It's funny how something like new leather seat covers makes it feel like a newer car.

It took about 6 weeks to get all my leathers from Jerry, but it was worth the wait. They are better than the OEM leather than came with the car.

I have not received mine yet after waiting several weeks. No contact from Jerry after four days. I'm starting to get pissed. If the leather is not perfect or soft or doesn't match, I'm returning it.

My thing is, it does not reflect well on a company when the owner (or whomever) says that the leather would ship on a certain date, and then the date comes by and the leather was not shipped. In addition, there has been zero communication over the last 13 days. I was patient in the beginning, now I'm annoyed, especially when this was ordered JULY FUCKING 29th. I can be patient as long as people give me a status or a firm date in which something I buy is going to be shipped.

my cushion covers from https://www.usautoseatcover.com/
arrived in 4 days, good price and quality is reasonable. It seems like one or 2 clips weren't sewn on, but I worked around it easily. I think they look pretty good.

Are they refunding you or remaking your covers? That sucks that there have been so many issues for you and Gatr. It's completely frustrating when you order something from a company that can't seem to deliver what they sell or communicate effectively. My experience with Lseat.com was different but I was nervous as a lot of their reviews dinged them on the fact that their customer service was lacking.
