Do you just like to argue or what?
Are you saying you'd be comfortable going 150+ with those MXM4's?
I am here to break all the myths
In my 2002 3.2TL Type-S, the top speed limiter was as the speedometer read, 147mph, I am sure because I have hit it at least 3 times. In my 2006 TL 6MT, the top speed limiter it at an exact 150mph, and no more. Since the 6MT TL gets up there so easily, I have bounced off of 150MPH atleast 15 times by now, and no it's not 151 or 155 or whatever, it's 150 exact i even made a video so i can look closely afterwords it's at an exact 150.
Other car governers i have tried is a 2004 Honda Pilot, which is sumwhere between 108-109....and a 2000 Toyota Camry CE 5MT, which was at 115.
If someone claim that they did over 150mph in a 2004-2006 TL without taking out the governor, than that means mabe the earlier years had a higher limiter than 2006.

I hit 149 in 6th gear when I owned my TL

and no way in hell would an N/A R1 hit 200mph....mine is highly modified and I cant even hit 185

Ratings don't mean shit on these tires; if you wanna get technical, fine. I was being realistic and gave a reminder accordingly for the sake of people's safety, because so many people come online and post ridiculous BS.
If the tires are rated for that speed, load, and the proper inflation then there's no safety problem from a tire point of view.
However going that fast on the street is just foolish and stupid, we all know know there is an incredible list of safety issues you deal with. It's just not worth the risk to you and others on the road. If you want to go that fast go to a track.

Your statement would lead people to believe that they could save some money and mount up a H rated tire on their TL and be safe because......... "the ratings dont mean shit" So if you truly are looking out for other peoples safety and not just trying to argue, I suggest that you take your own advice, and dont post rediculous BS

Let me assure you that is not the case. The engineering department will ensure, and the legal department will demand that the tire perform up to its rated speed.

Yeah, the ratings will stand true if they were tested in optimal condition; I've driven on EL42's and MXM4's, and they weren't very stable at higher speeds.
At 150+, these tires could turn a slightest mistake into a major disaster, whereas better tires could be more forgiving.
I didn't feel safe at all even at 80, 90 MPH on EL42's, and I was giving my opinion based on my experience. Since I've switched tires to Ecstas, with same W ratings as the EL42s, and have felt a huge difference in traction and overall stability at higher speeds.

Yes, the tires are crap. And, yes, you could end up dead with one little mistake at 150 miles per hour. But, that isn't a reflection of the tire's traction.
As for tire ratings, the speed rating has a lot to do with whether or not the tire can handle the cetrifugal force and amount of heat generated from driving at a specific speed for a duration of time. If you take a "S" rated tire and drive it 140 MPH for a quick burst, you might come out of it ok. But, your tires would completely disintegrate if you tried to maintain that speed.

I second that the highest I have ever had it was 120 on I-10 going back to Jacksonville Florida. The highest that I have had it here in Italy is about 80-95 which very bad because of how unpredictable the driving is here and the curvy roads. I have to slow down I fear that I will be in a very bad accident before I leave Italy.

Best Generation of Acura Grills
Just curious to know what people thought of as the best headlight/grill combination there is of the 3 generations of TLs. I really love and admire the second generation headlight/grill combination. I really think its looks the best. As for the third generation, the grill is nice but the headlight aren't as aggressive as the second gen.
What do you guys think
'02 - '03 TL is the best looking by far, at least the front part anyway.

i hit 135 and then started to bring it down cuz there was a curve coming up. coming through the curve a cop clocked me at 82 mph, my boy told me if i had gotten clocked at 135 i would have gotten arrested (is that true). i know the car had more in it but i got a little nervous; at least i got it kinda outta my system.
