Talking Took delivery today!

Just sharing. Got the car on my lunch hour today. Drove it a whole 3/4 of a mile from the dealership to work. And spent most of that time inserting CDs and my book on tape! I guess I'll have to enjoy the ride tonight!

Yeah, I'm a girl. But a girl who appreciates a good car. I didn't get the TSX because the engine was too weak! No 6-cylinder on it??? Geez. Looking forward to driving my new TL!

Welcome and enjoy the new ride! Dayton, huh. I'm just up the street in Columbus. Now I know 1 person who uses the tape player...

UPSCWRU - Congrats on the car! I have to ask, why'd you go back to work vs. driving around all afternoon? I don't know about that... So how's the weather up there, still gray everyday? I've got relatives in Cincy...I've never seen somewhere that's gray all the time (and just as humid as somewhere in the south, too).

srhewes - I've used the tape player before...I still have a bunch of tapes from when I was a kid...old Beastie Boys, Motley Crue, AC/DC, and a bunch of others...aside from the hissing noise inherent to all tapes, they sound great in the TL!

The library has many more book on tape options in tape than on CD, so the tape player opens up new worlds!

Yup, Dayton. It is what it is...

Yeah, I should have just kept driving... The boss even said something to that effect. But I'm just so damned conscientious. Of course, the reason I can afford a TL has something to do with my work ethic, I suspect. Plus my co-worker was waiting for his turn to go to lunch and I'd been going an hour and a half already.

As for gray, I grew up in the Seattle area, so I can't say as how I noticed Dayton being gray. Granted, I prefer Seattle for the scenery, the summer and winter weather, and the days when the sun DOES come out, but Dayton's grayness isn't much of an issue for me.

The color's a funny thing. I have purchased four cars in my life now. 3 have been of a dark blue color like my new car. The other was a dark blue/gray (VW's anthracite blue). I'm sure there will be people who don't notice that I got a new one, given that the color is so close to my Jetta and the interior is gray in both! But considering I have no interest in white, silver, light gray, red, or black, my options were limited! I really liked the green, actually, but I didn't like the interior choices. I would have gotten the green with quartz, but that's not possible. So blue and gray it is!

Those who can't tell a TL from a Jetta should be flogged, taken out into the street and shot, or at a minimum . Even my mom, who thinks "a car is for transportation" would spot the difference instantly...some people truly make me wonder...

So, any pics?

No pics yet, but given that just about every car delivered is stock... mine looks just like any other blue/gray with Navi TL delivered this year!

I had friends that couldn't tell I switched cars when I went from the Passat to the Jetta... and that was a color change!

None of my friends are in a position to buy something quite like this (single, 35, bought the house, paid for the education - it's kind of weird not having anything specific to save for!), so I don't mind not shoving it in their face that they've known me for two new cars in three years...

Pics of a TL are pics of a TL, the folks around here will look at them all day long...but I hear you...I don't see a point in posting pics of mine until I get my wheels.

Life's great, isn't it? Of course, I still have things to save for...wheels (on the way), plasma TV, high-end home theater, project car (or new car with the TL as a project car), etc. No point in making all that money if you don't enjoy it!

I've gone back and forth with my color choices. Started out with a blue went to black now I have an ABP TL and so I guess my next car will have to be black. Although I'm not sure I really want another black car. The ABP is dark, but not a nightmare to clean like my black Accord is. I too considered the DGP but like you didn't like the fact that it didn't come in Quartz.

I'm really digging the RRP now. My husband pointed out to me that he now thinks the RRP would be his color of choice should he ever get a TL. He like me completely fell in love with ABP when we first saw it on the lot.

Awesome choice. That was my second choice to my chosen color combo. I should have gone with the second choice since I'm seeing too many Anthracites down here. I can't be unique unless I go drastic.

There are a lot of helpful people (I like to think I have been helpful at times) here so if you have any questions, I'm sure we can collectively come up with ideas, if not solutions for you.

Congratulations. Great car and the right color combination ( I also have ABP with quartz interor) Navi and AT.

Since you couldn't go cruisin at lunch......you must have CRUISIN plans for the weekend...RIGHT!?!?

Be good to the TL during the break-in period. Then you can really have fun.

Enjoy your first weekend with your TL

Yeah, I'm a lazy owner. I buy my cars and houses so I can just drive/move in. Nothing much else gets done after I purchase. I've been enjoying the ride, this weekend, though! I plugged in an address last night to a place I'd never been in a residential neighborhood, and it took me right there!

I made the mistake of letting my wife drive my '04 Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Nav last March when we starting looking at the TSX after her '96 328i BMW crapped out again. Well one drive of my TL and the TSX was history in her mind.

So now we have two: my '04 and her '05 in Silver/Quartz/5AT/Nav. She loves it and hasn't made one remark about missing her former Bimmer. And in my opinion, the quartz interior is probably the nicest of the lot. When I bought my '04 last July, the first test drive was in a Blue/Quartz/6MT.

Congrats! Welcome to the show and a fine choice you made.

Thumbs up Rolling Out the Red Carpet

Congratulations on your new TL and welcome to the Acurazine family.

Your car sounds fantastic. You have excellent taste. I also love the green every time I see it. I have a camel interior because light interiors are better in Florida. Green and camel are a nice combo- especialy with the "plood" interior trim.

You can make lots of friends and get lots of info on this forum. Use it well.

I agree! I could not find a blue one in my area with 6MT, well black always works in a pinch!

Whereas I completely HATE the camel! I'm not very fond of yellow, in general, and that is just too much on the yellow side for me. This is my 3rd car with a gray leather interior, and it works for me. Which is all that matters, in this case!

Dont tell people that seattle has nice weather, we dont want anyone else to move here, lets face it I-5 is already bad enough.

Welcome,

Good color choice! I went through the same color decision choices, ABP was sitting at the dealer one day while I was waiting for my AM to come in. That night I had my new car and have never looked back. Mine turned 10,000 trouble and rattle free miles yesterday. I hope you decide to keep this one more than a year.

Oh I know! It was horrible 10 years ago when I moved away, and it hasn't been any better on my visits home since. I was forced to move away when Starbucks found out I don't drink coffee, but I never betrayed the official anti-marketing campaign! It rains constantly, everyone's committing suicide, traffic is horrible. Don't move there!

Yep. That's right. I think even if it was real wood, I'd still hate it. I guess it's not really the fact that it's fake, it's that I don't care for that style.
