Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Ive been a member of this site for now hum, about a week, my name is Jeff, im 20, going on 21 in october and i live with my parents in a little town called rigaud which is about 45 mins ouest of Montreal, Quebec located in Canada (for those who didnt know), while im in school full time getting a business degree.

Anyways, i should be acquiring a TL soon enough, once my car that i currently have gets sold.

I have been bouncing around quite abit in my thaughts of what i want in my TL, so my questions to you guys should help clear these up.

- is there any MPG difference between owning a manual, or auto tranny? and or any lag on the SS mode? ( i know the IS300 SS mode gets totally raped by the full manual IS300's)

- what is the guarantee coming outta the dealer if the prolongated guarantee is not taken, how much millage?

- i know that in the auto tranny car you get perks like the auto tilt mirror, and reverse camera if you install it, will this still happen if i get a manual tranny?

- are the parts off a 07 TL interchangeable with a 05-06, example the bumpers, or mirrors?

1) MPG varies greatly depending on driving style. Traditionally though manual transmission offers the possibility of greater MPG

2) 4 years or 50K miles whichever comes first

3) 07-08 have reverse camera and tilt mirror standard I believe on both automatic and manual.

4) yes parts are interchangable between 04-08 might need other supporting parts though.

I had the IS300 and it is SO SLOW compared to my TL and my TL is so much roomier and the IS300 gas mileage sucks.

 

hahahah awsome, im so happy that you said that!. my buddy has an is300 that his daddy bought him last year and he keeps rubbing in my face. maybe now imma one up the bastard.

 

2) that 50K is miles? that is just powertrain or bumper 2 bumper?

3) cool. i kinda only got the budget for an 05-06, unless i come into some cash soon i think ill havta do the upgrade then.

Manuals have tilt mirrors and reverse camera just like autos.

 

Most of the parts will be interchangeable, I believe the 07-08 front bumper will need some modification if you want to put that on your 04-06 TL.

NBP and WDP are the name of the colors that are available on the TL.
NBP = Nighthawk Black Pearl
WDP = White Diamond Pearl

I agree! My girl's got a IS300. The gas mileage is about the same as my TL. But the TL is definitely faster! Definitely more roomy too! And I've driven a lot of RWD cars in the snow, but the IS is TERRIBLE in snow! Their snow traction does absolutley nothing either! U'll definitely show him up in ur TL! Good luck!

The rattles are hit or miss...I have an original 3G model off the line in 03 and the only rattle I had was once I added my sub. I just added some $3 polyfill under it to prevent vibration and it's ok now.

My 04 Manual drops the mirror when I reverse. I was amazed!

Cant get the blue in Canada with a 6 Speed unless its the lighter blue found on the 07 or 08 Type S. I wanted the dark blue but it was only avalible on the auto so in my case the tranny beat out the colour

yup they only offered 4 colours with the 6mt when i got my 06 white, black, silver or dark grey. Then finding a 6mt with navi in 06 up here was a treat as well. I had to order the car and wait 4 months for it only to find that the Type S was being released the next year lol

 

holy molly man. well i still like the black and the white. but nothing looks sweeter then a dark blue all waxed up with mad chromies on it.

 

being from montreal myself, watch for rust spots on the hood. (or touch up paint) which dealer are you going to?

 

yea, im not too sure what dealer, im just going around looking. i stil havent sold my car so yea. if you see any TLS for sale let me know!!

wow, im pretty surprised to actually see theres a few people from montreal on this site.. i guess once i get my TL we should cruise up state side and chill with our american buddies..

im freaking looking and theres no TL's on the market that are really appealing. there was one black on black 05 navi with 30k km on it for 20 k CAN, but it sold within four days. !

quick question about the TL also, does anyone know what % the sunroof is tinted for the 07-08 3g TL?

 

Jeff, if you are getting the WDP, make sure the paint of the bumpers matches the body's paint.

i would say its probably about 35%. the glass is actualy smoked if i remember.

yeah JeffEL, when you see a good one at a dealer, you gotta act fast, i dont wanna even start telling you how many I had missed cause they sold fast. which dealers are you looking? close to my area their's laval,blainville,gabriel, metropolitain and brossard. not sure if im missing one.

 

yes, but not all that are not matching, when you want to buy the car, just buy it in a sunny day which I did not. GL.......8-)

- is there different a-spec kits for those years? like base and type-s?

- if i wanna put a type-s kit, id havta install the type-s bumper first? - is there any mods to do to get a type-s bumper on a 05-06 base TL?

If you are going older...you can go 04-06. And yes, there are Aspec lip kits for those.

Decide first how much more it'll cost you to get an 07-08 because there are certain nice features that those come with standard. Turn signals in mirrors, fog lights in bumper, different tails (all interchangeable though) DRL that looks more like a projector...etc.

ATLP is just a brand name, I believe. Might have even been created by someone on here.

Unless you're pressed for time, wait to find the deal you're really looking for. Ebay motors might be an option too if you're not finding what you want locally. You can get a killer deal, just make sure there is some sort of inspection available!
