Today was preventative-measure Sunday...

I threw a code and inched home in limp mode a few weeks ago in my '06 TL with just over 60k on the clock. I've had the car since it had 35k on it. I've never done anything other than tires, some oil changes and an air filter just after I bought it.

Well, the code and limp mode (I didn't know it was limp mode at the time... I thought I was in deep doo-doo) put some fear in me, so I decided to do some real work...

The code / limp mode was caused by the Accelerator Pedal Positioning Sensor, so I ordered that, along with the tranny pressure switches, tranny filter, and a case of Honda's DW-1 fluid. It all came a few days ago, so today I spent about four hours changing the APP sensor, tranny filter, 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches, the first of a 3x3 tranny fluid swap, an oil change, and new air/oil filters.

The car feels *exactly* the same post-op, but the peace of mind is nice.

Nice work! I'm only at 30K on mine, but next summer I'm going to get into a lot of those maintenance items too!

I once had that same problem with the APP sensor too, but at the time I had no idea of limp modes' cause or existence..

My car went into limp mode, unfortunately on the same night I was on my way to go on a date. With reoccurring thoughts of "f*k f*k F*K, i just blew my engine..", I too went into limp mode later that night...

I had to replace my APP sensor a few months ago. I discovered the code will go away and drive normal again when you restart the car. I had to pull over a few times to reset the code whithin a week while I waited on my part to arrive. It was annoying, but a little tip incase it happens to you.

Yeah. Mine only tripped the code and limped the one time. Luckily for me it behaved while waiting for the part to arrive
