TL's Security System Malfunctioning?

OK, so I decided to turn my driver's side window all the way down and engage the TL's security system. From outside of the car, I open the driver's side door by pulling up the knob. Isn't the alarm suppose to go off. It didn't do anything. BTW is an 06 TL

My '05 alarm scared the #@$! out of me about a week after I got the car. I had dropped the windows down after parking for a short wait. I got out of the car to check something and hit the keyfob lock button out of habit. Then I pulled up on the lock knob, which set off the alarm...
Did you set the alarm using the keyfob? If not, try that before pulling up on the lock knob to see if the alarm works.

Yeah, I did set the alarm with the keyfob. When I pulled up the lock knob, the red security light just simply came off and nothing happened. I beginning to believe it's not working correctly.

Well .... a couple of weeks ago while detailing my '06 I accidently locked the doors when I meant to open the trunk. When I reached in to the car and unlocked it and opened the door the horn started goin off. Did you open the door or just manually unlock the door through the open window?

That's all I did. I'll try opening it and see what happens.

my salesguy described the alarm system as passive. So if you got into the car the alarm wouldn't go off, only if you tried to start it.

There is a delay I believe....... Try waiting 30 seconds or so, and then open the door.

Ah...it works! Thanks JPSMAN.

I have a question though. Those the stock alarm system have a shock sensor? Let's say your TL is parked on the side streets and some clown knocks off your side view mirrors, would the alarm go off?

I have to join you guys on this threat. I have 2001 TL. My alarm is not evein going off when I lock the car. You know when you press "lock" button on your remote, your car suppose to honk to let you know security is set in place. I can hear the locking device locking my car but nothing is going off....any Ideas why it might be?
PS. I have called Acura stealer-ship and they said bring it in so they can look at it for $98. I would rather ask you guys. Oh and one of the doors on my car has been replaced and after that, my security stop going off when I luck my car.
Thank you.

You should post this in the 2G TL forum. There may be a few people here who have or had a 2G TL, but there are lots of people in the 2G TL forum who can probably help you more.
