Question: The owners manual says take out the existing mats before putting in new ones. Any idea why? I just put mine on top and they work fine.
I think that you remove the existing mats because on the driver's side there are two hooks to keep the mat in place.

The OEM all-season rubber mats has two holes for the two hooks to go through and keep the mat in place. Hence, the removal of the existing mats for this to work.
