Question TL Winter Mats

Anyone found high quality rubber floor mats for the TL? Acura's are black only I believe - am looking for a better match to the TL's Parchment interior. I've seen the WeatherTech ad's and am not sure that I want mats that have to be trimmed to fit. Thanks.

I have an Ebony Interior and I went out and bought mats that have a large area that includes a sponge to trap water. Seemed like a good idea so I got them. I had to cut around the TL's accelerator to get it to fit but now that I look at them they fit quite nicely. Nice enough that I might just keep them there year round.

I have parchment with the Acura mats. They contrast very well. Take a look in my gallery. The driver's mat has two attachments to the floor by the seat, so it is rock solid. You can see the contrast better with the rear mat pic as the front one was taken in the middle of a storm.

I've got the all weather mats with parchment interior also. I think they match nicely with the two tone dash color.

Weathertech mats should not have to be trimmed. They will hold a lot of slush and water. They are high quality and don't look so bad...I just leave 'em in all year in the S4, and will get them for the TL.

Floor Matts

I also am looking for all weather floor matts for my TL. I found a set of generac matts at Costco for $20. They are high quality matts but not shaped for the TL. The rear matts are a little small, the passanger side fits great, but the drivers side is a compromise. They work well enough that I will leave them in until someone makes a custom matt in tan.

We got some snow recently. And, I found out the Acura all weather mats cannot hold water well in the driver side. If you watch carefully, the driver side mat will let water flow forward easily. It should put the curb or rim something.

The driver's side Acura mat has two holes in it that anchors towards the back of the front sear where there are two metal holders coming out of the floor.

Maybe thats where water is going through?

In my case, water doesn't go through those two holes, it moves to the front. The mat of the driver side should have the edge to stop water moving out.

bang your feet together

This is not meant to sound sarcastic or anything but try to minimize how much snow you bring into the car by gently banging your feet together before you enter. Then you'll just have a small amount of moisture collecting on the mats. :smackhead

Try hard to do that, but it never works during the snow-full parking lot under blizzard. :wow:

Zaino Z16 - tire treatment does an incredible job on the Acura winter mats.

Does anyone have some ruber-stain on your chrome ACURA metal of the doors' rims?

Just ordered weathertech mats from McNeil...they will come trimmed to fit without compromising the water/slush holding capacity. I have used them in the S4 for 4 winters without a drop of water escaping. They work well and are very high quality. I also bang my feet together b4 pulling them inside the car...looks dumb but does reduce the burden on the mats!

I see. But since my dealer gave me free mats, I'd use them for a year, and see what I can get before next winter... Your choice seems pretty good.

Oh, yeah, you live in NYC where they never get any snow to speak of :-)

I would pay $49 plus $9 for mats (fronts) that will really protect even if there are free ones...see if those free ones will actually trap the melted salty slush and keep your carpet dry and unstained.

They don't, and they are from Acura. One more thing to blame Acura now...

I went with limo tint. That's why the windows look so dark.

I'm very happy for you too. That looks really nice. It makes my interior look cheap. Man why couldn't they put those simulated wood trim on the ebony interior. Eventhough it's fake wood, it still makes the interior more classier. That parchment looks really nice too. I'm just too afraid after a few months it will look like crap though since I wouldn't have the time to take care of it. So that's why I went with the ebony interior.

Your combination is so great. Wish I can pick up whilte...

About your Wood Select Knob, is it the same color as your wood inside?

I'm interested in doing tint, too. Did you ask your dealer doing so? What difference is between limo tint and regular one? Thanx...

The knob is almost the same color but the wood grain/pattern isn't exactly like the factory wood trim. I didn't notice it initially but when I looked closely, I noticed it. It's hard to describe. The factory trim looks more knotty than the knob's straight grain look. I attached a close-up.

The tint is not from the dealer. A local tint shop will do "illegal" tint for cash and no receipt. They did an excellent job. All laser cut and they didn't dirty my car at all. My responsibility, of course, if a cop stops me and gives me a ticket.

I could have gone either way. I really like the ebony/carbon trim interior too. My cars always stay really clean so the light interior isn't a problem. I've never really liked fake wood trim in cars but Acura did a good job making it look nice. The wood knob not matching exactly kind of bugs me. I'm stopping by the dealer this week to see if they made a mistake. I haven't recieved the call from Acura to grade the dealership yet so they'll still treat me like a King.

Looks great! Good choice on the limo tint; whoever gave you that idea was one SMART sumb@tch, that's for sure...

The shift knob looks great too; almost a butterscotch color against the wood, which imo looks better than if it matched perfectly.

All around nice ride!

OK, so you got that limo tint so if someone can answer this question it must be you. I have a regular tint on my car. It is the first time I have had a tinted car. The other night I was backing up and was thinking that I did not have any backup lights as I could not see hardly anything out the back window. How do you see where you are going through the tint?

Can you change the backup light to be brighter?

Question wasn't directed at me, but it's pretty much a standard issue with limo tint on any car; it can be a double-edged sword at times.

I've had very dark tint on all of my cars since I was a weeee lad, and it's simply something you learn to live with. You do get used to it after a while, although it really depends on the car - if you've got a steep rear window angle, it increases the viewing difficulty, obviously.

Or, just put the windows down, and hang out.

Changing the backup light brightness is not an option, as far as I know.

I've had tint on all my cars since 1986 so I guess I'm used to it. The only time it's a problem is when I back out onto a poorly lit street. I've made it a habit to look around just before I get into my car and back out in case there's a pedestrian coming or someone on a bike without a light. Once I'm on the road going forward it's not a problem.

Did you have the felt strip installed in your door panels? If not, do you have any scratches on your tint? Thanks.

Thanks, jareias, the knob is great. The picture is good looking. I may get it from the dealer or just order from MOMO... if I know how to put it on.

I got some great mats at Target. Soft rubber and hight edges. The package said they were for trucks and SUVs but I wanted large mats to protect ALL the carpet (you have to lift the mat to access the gas door unlocking button)

Question: The owners manual says take out the existing mats before putting in new ones. Any idea why? I just put mine on top and they work fine.
