TL vs TLS

as troung stated above; the base 6mt puts down the same amount of power as the automatic type-s.
they both put down about 230 horses with the base 6mt being the lighter of the two.
the base 6mt spanks the auto type-s ALL DAY

So we already know the fastest 3G TL would be the 6mt Type S HPT, but what would happen between the fastest 3G, and a 4G SH-AWD? I have had a couple loaners and they feel pretty strong. So they are advertised at about 19 more HP than the Type S, but I know the 4G weighs a crap load more. I guess no matter what neither of the cars are fast, so it's not gonna be some insane race, just two sedans goin at it with one of them a car or two lengths ahead of the other.

I, also, have this goal of 300 hp with my Type S M/T, seems you could get it with J pipe, cat deletes or high flow cats, and a hondata flashpro tune.

horsepower improved marginally in the SHAWD and has more heft.
in higher gears, the 6MT will take it.

This is true, but I was more or less talking about straight from the factory installed options. So since traction is a pretty big issue with FWD drive vehicles, I can only imagine a 6mt Type S with the Michelins will lose a race to a 6mt Type S with the Bridgestones assuming equal drivers. I could be wrong but I think earlier 04-06's were available with HPT option as well. Your right thought, by this point there probably arent too many TL's running original tires anymore. Oddly enough though, my 08 I just sold still had its original Michelins on at at 32,000 miles, and obviously my 07 HPT still has its original Bridgestones on at 6,500 miles. They might not be as sticky as they were though back in 2007 lol.

Type-s 6MT is way faster than Auto type-s. Even with my auto bolted with jpipe and intake the 6MT just poops on it. Not even close.
I honestly think that intakes on these cars kill us in the low end. I swapped my intake to my 6MT type-s today and that's one of the first things that I noticed - a loss of low end torque. I have a solid butt dyno that proves this. Before I put the intake on my 6MT, I was able to chirp tires shifting 1st through 3rd gear. After I put the intake on, I barely chirp in 2nd anymore at all.

Off topic, but why would OP name this thread TL vs TLS? When all he wanted to know was about some sticker on his car?
Anyway...................................I wonder if he is like most of you all.............having a hard time learning how to drive a 6spd TL.

Yeah I did, and yeah it's tough compared to the Jetta I had been practicing on. I love it though! Hoping the slave cylinder check valve delete and GM Syncromesh fluid helps me out a bit.

And as for lostinspace, curious how he agrees with you, yet thanked me for the post I made in that link.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the '04/5/6 6MT actually is the unofficial TYPE-S for those model years.

Did you even bother to go to and read the link in my post? Because if you did, you'd know this ISN'T just about the only difference being a manual tranny. It's about thicker stabilizer bars, brembo front brakes, and a limited slip differential -- none of which came on the BASE A/T model those years.

Who's arguing? This is about separating FACTS from opinion.
