TL vs TLS

How does somebody buy a car and not know what they have? LOL Like others have said no its not a Type S because they didn't even make those until 07 for the 3G, but besides that an 07/08 Type S really doesn't look anything like an 04 with exception of the sheet metal.
the Vin number is a dead give-a-way
OP - didja buy this one?

no he never made the claim of the type s but it has another aftermarket badge on it so I assumed the type s one was out there and not accurate
Speaking of badges, there's a Type S around me that has not only the standard Type S badge on the back, but up in the grill as well. Never seen that before

The 19UUA6 designation by itself is actually a misnomer. If you have a 6MT, then you have the 'unofficial' Type-S for '04-'06 known as the 'Sport' Model with thicker stabilizer bars, a limited slip differential, and Brembo front brakes.

199UA6 designates the base chassis from the type-s Chassis.
Ehhh dunno if I agree with that. Sure, it has a few of the things that were incorporated into the 07/08 Type S, but the earlier 6mt TL's are without a doubt not unofficial Type S's. Its simply a base TL with manual trans. I agree with justnspace on this one.

^^^ That looks really dumb on the Type S. One of my pet peeves is when people put extra badges on cars. The OEM one on the trunk lid, the headrests, and the steering wheel is perfect as is. No reason to clutter the car up and degrade its look at the same time.
Here is a perfect example of what happens when people with poor taste get their hands on what was once a good car. I took this picture in a mall parking lot. Who in their right mind would put additional emblems on the headlight doors? LOLOLOL then think to themselves, "yeah this looks really good" hahahaha

Type S is rarer than base TL but yet its no where near the performance offer by BMW M, MB AMG, Lexus F (NOT F sport package), Audi S comparing to their base model. I don't know why some Type S owner think they are special (put on flame suit) sorry if I offended any one own a Type S.

I want to know what the exact differences are like one member mentioned, not by vin, but 3.7 Liter engine vs. 3.5 L, different suspension? different exhaust? Limited slip diff, what are the mechanical differences?
3.2 vs 3.5
Only vehicles with the manual transmissions had LSD, this includes the base TL as well.
minor suspension changes, they are all interchangeable. minor exhaust differences, they are all interchangeable.
the base TL with manual transmission has brembos.
all type-s has brembos
not much mechanical differences.

Its sad that as good looking of a car as the type s is, not that the base isn't, that they only upped it to 286 from 258 or whatever. Maybe it was that shift from 270hp to 258hp (I forget what changed it) has something to do with it. If the same measurement was used I bet the type S would've been close, if not over 300. 300hp is where it should be in my opinion to stand out, aside from the other additives it got. Whatever, I'm sure plenty people around here have found ways to get it close to 300 on their own anyways with CAEs and whatnot.
