Less agile, slower and not as quiet. The TL's interior also is more upscale. Acura did a good job Improving an already excellent car.

Accord EX V6

My wife has a newer (Fall '03) Accord EX V6. It's a great car. She doesn't let me drive it much. We paid about $24,xxx so ~$7,xxx or so less than the TL I have on order. Not nearly as Lux or sporty and fewer technical wonders and toys. Not a rattle or squeak so far and pretty darn good performance with the 240hp. She's thrilled with it. I started my search by looking at the Accord also (I have a '98 Accord now) but decided to 'upscale' some. Now if I can just get my TL delivered all will be well.

I narrowed my search to the TL or Accord. I made up my mind quickly when I drove them the same day. Everything on the TL is just a little or a lot nicer depending on the feature.

I beleive that Accord EX V6/Navi ($26K) represents much better value that TL/Navi($34K). Both are build by Honda and on the same platform, have similar size and features. For some people additional gadgets may justify the price difference but then you better pay $8K more and get BMW 330 ZHP/Navi for $42K.

.....ok, the Accord EX-V6 may be an overall better value but face it, the car is just plain "vanilla"....If you're looking to just blend in with the crowd, that's fine, go with the Accord........the TL's styling is unmatched (even the Bimmer looks dated in comparison). The TL not only has more gadgets but better handling, braking, overall acceleration and overall luxury than an Accord (not to mention better customer service). If you're counting pennies, go with an Accord but as Motor Trend says, the TL is the "Ultimate Accord." (Consumer Reports also rated it as their top-rated near-luxury sedan).

I was having the same debate, but when I sat in the TL the debate was over. On paper the cars aren't that different but it's the feeling of luxury and style inside the TL that I liked.

One feature that's important to me but maybe not others is seat and mirror memory. My wife and I switch as drivers twice a day. TL has it, accord doesn't.

I think you should have said "the car is just plain "ugly". We started out looking at Accords but I wanted an Accord Coupe which I think is a nice looking car. My wife wanted a sedan and I then started looking at sedans that weren't ugly. The Jaguar X looked the best but is getting universally poor marks. The second nicest looking sedan in my opinion was the TL, which we ended up purchasing. If it was just myself buying a car I would have gone with the Accord coupe with 6 speed. That is a best buy for the money. The TL is no doubt the best buy in cars between $30k and 35k.

I did test drive accord ex v6 before i test drive acura tl...

The differences is really the interior looks and also tl got 1 more yr of warranty and also I remember Accord did not have sensors for the air bag so in a minor collision, all 8 air bag would go off but TL has sensors and only the air bag with ppl sitting on it would go off. TL is 3.2L while Accord is 3.0L and TL's engine got more juice 270hp vs 240hp. Accord does not have XM radio and accord does not have trip computer and also memory sitting those little fancy toys. All in all... Accord is cheaper than TL but you really get what you paid for with TL. After comparing both car I decided to go with TL... just test drive it... you can feel the difference.

I'm 99% sure XM is available on the Accord.

Just drive both and decide if the difference is worth $7k or not.
Only you can make that decision.

We bought my wife a new '04 Accord V6 (silver/black leather) two days before I got my new TL (same color scheme). The Accord is a great car, but the TL is just a much more luxurious car. I think the difference in price is commensurate to the quality and level of luxury you get in the TL.
