TL Type S worries

I just bought a 2008 TL Type-S and its amazing. However, Im kind of worried about the dash. Mine hasn't cracked yet but how common is it among the rest of you? Should I really get a dash cover or something because I REALLY don't mine to crack lmao. Also this annoying plastic guard under the car which hangs way below the front bumper keeps scraping on my driveway and its freaking me out. Is this also really common for y'all? Let me know, thanks. That plastic guard is pretty scratched up right now, and Im always paranoid my bumper is getting scratched too

I can confirm that 303 wont stop the dash from cracking, the most important thing that prevent crack is park your car indoor most of the time that prevent the big temperature swing.

No cracks on my '08 TL-S. I've been using aerospace 303 every few months, and this sunscreen during the summer:

I have an 06' TL with no dash cracks. First owner garage kept it for the first 11 years. I've had it for two years now and always try to park in the shade *crosses fingers*. If it ever does crack I'll just pony up for a Coverlay cover.

If you read back the dash threads from the past several years, there have been quite a few that have cracked across all years. The "theory" is they all will eventually, just a matter of time. My '05 held out until 2 years ago. It was a Florida car for 3 years, then a midwestern car since then. First 4-5 years, it was garage kept at home and covered parking at work. The next 4-5 years are "mostly" garage kept, however the wife drives it more since it is the beater and the kids crap in the garage means it doesn't always get to spend the night in there anymore.

303 a couple of times per year since 2009'ish. Sun shade when outside for the most part. It still cracked.

As for scraping on the driveway.....is the front piece still intact where it belongs? If so, welcome to a modern car that sits somewhat low. Pretty much any modern car has the type of pieces at roughly the same height. My wife's Terrain drags on the same parking blocks that my TL drags on.

I read somewhere; in the 90's, cheap plastics were used to combat the oil crises that went on a decade earlier.
in the early to mid 2000's, car manufacturers started to get their shit together and started crafting better dashes....
how funny, our car just happens to fall in that time period where the process and materials used were JUST getting better.

Works great for me. I saw that some people were complaining in the reviews that it leaves something like a one inch gap, but if there was no gap then it would be a real pain to set it up and pull it out. I like to position mine so it leaves the light sensor uncovered.
