TL Type S ASM or NBP ?

Hello TL'ers

I'm trading in my silver 04 TL /navi after 4 wonderful years. I will miss her but to ease the pain I have decided to pick up a 08 TL Type S

Now my dilemma is choosing between ASM or NBP. Both are great colours. I love my 04 but the NBP would be ice for a change of pace.

I know the ASM and NBP clubs will be pulling for their own but hopefully some of the neutral’s could chime in and cast your vote.

Thanks

NBP FTW!

Non-biased reason: NBP just looks nicer than ASM, plain and simple.

Thanks for the welcome ggesq! Based on your av I can guess which colour you'd suggest.

I've been reading these forums for a long time and I may have caught the az mod bug. The Type S rims wil be the first to go.

Nighthawk Black Pearl. Only other decent choice is White Diamond Pearl, but Acura didn't execute that very well color matching wise, so yes, NBP.

ASM- because NBP will look dirty and like dust about 95% of the time, i.e. within a half-hour after it's washed!

I'd probably consider KBP as well as ASM if I had the choice, though.

ASM - I go to dealer's free drive through car wash at least once a week, car looks clean most of the time, silver depicts lines of the car well, and it looks nice and classy with tint.
NBP- I hate swirl marks like on my last car, looks VERY nice when clean, looks like any other car when dirty, hard to maintain nice finish... oh and did I mention swirl marks?

If those were the only 2 colors left on the lot, I would go with NBP.

I have ASM right now (1st time with different color). It looks good but since you already owned silver before, I would choose NBP as well like what LyfeIs said (no other color choices). Otherwise KBP or CGP.

It is going to be easier to find rims that look better with NBP and NBP just looks better without question.

I agree NBP is a VERY nice color. However, let's put up an NBP to an ASM after, lets say, a weeks worth of daily driving.

I live in Phoenix where dust is always blowing and owning a black car just is not prudent.

That being said, when I was at the dealership buying my car, my first look was at the NBP, but I am very happy with the final decision.

Def. NBP

Who ever said black is the easiest to clean was lying lying lying, its the hardest color to upkeep, all the damn fingerprints, but its well worth it, especially on a sunny day, NBP looks tight.

WDP still rocks, lol

ASM FTW!! My friend (Kosstick) has the NBP. We went to get a car wash and by the time we made it to our other friends house his car was dirty lol. My car however, hasn't been washed for almost a month due to rain here in cali, and it looks spotless. Plus the ASM looks real good w/ tints and dark rims ( I guess thats why I've got that combo)

I traded up from a silver 03 CL-S to my 06 NBP 6-spd with NO regrets. Nothing looks better then black, when it's clean! That said, silver is about the easiest color to take care of as it hides most small imperfections well. If you're meticulous, go with the black. If you go a few weeks between washes, stick with silver.

My wife drives a silver Honda Pilot - the best color in the word for her. :-)

Thumbs up Thanks AZ'ers

Thanks for all the feedback. Much appreciated.

Well overall it’s pretty close with NBP taking the edge. Lots of love for the NBP. Many valid points on both sides. Silver has been great to own but I"m thinking the change of pace may be good, at least until the 09/10 TL.

I'm a bit of a clean freak so I'll likely be washing the NBP at least twice a week

Now I just need to sort out the rims!

Thanks again

I wouldnt make that mistake and get NBP.......let me just say you better love that shit if your gonna get it. IF i had to choose between two colors it would be WDP and KBP. WDP is the overall best color to get. KBP is the color you wana get if you want to stand out. But between your choices Id go with ASM.

ASM here as well. Its a much more rugged color be it scraches, dirt, what ever. Also, you don't get the peeling issue.

on a side note, i would wait till the 09s come out and either get one of those if u want, or get an 08 then since they would probably be discounted.

come on ballin that aint true. honestly i really wanted the nbp but after choosing the asm, i could not be happier. like everyone says, when you clean it, then it looks nice but only for a few minutes. also, every little scratch is visible on nbp. overall, all the colors are great. its all personal preference. my
