TL Steering Question

Could someone explain what is meant by the term "Torque-Sensing Variable-Assist....." as it pertains to the TL's rack and pinion steering? TIA!

It senses the effort required to turn the wheels - the resistance between the tires and the road to turning - and adjusts assistance accordingly.

ya know.. I know what it is and can't put it in words. and for the LIFE of me can't find an answer on Google. I'll come up with it yet.

Speed sensing (last year's feature) was that it applies more or less boost related primarily due to speed of the car. More boost at lower speeds to help overcome tire friction, less boost at high speeds so that you don't make 3 lane changes, but rather a gentle bend.

I'll get more when I can put it in text.

Still wish the steering was heavier at higher speeds.
