TL sank in the river
Here is an article about a woman (God rest her soul) who flipped her TL in the river.
I'm not sure how this happened, but the Police are saying that "speed was a factor", while the witnesses say the car went airborn, and then flipped sideways into the river.
I've driven that section of freeway many times, at speeds at or greater than what they allege she was driving. The TL (I'm sure many would agree) is pretty stable at speeds, and can't imagine how this accident could've happened.
I don't know, I guess I just get sick and tired of how everyone always cries that speed kills, and the next thing you know, Oregon has the lowest speed limits on the west coast.

That's really awful to read about. to the driver. I agree, there must have been another factor, perhaps a tire blew out at speed. This happened to me when I was young many years ago--tire blew out at speed and my resulting overcorrection led directly to a multiple rollover accident. I walked away, though, with only scratches.

I, also, have driven that stretch of I-84 dozens of times, and would feel perfectly safe at speeds of 80 or even 90 mph. Odds are that she blew a tire or hit some debris in the roadway. Really sad.

Geez ya'll sound like a buncha hens that thing the almighty TL/TSX can save your ass in a hairy situation?
I dunno, but I bet there isn't a car made that won't kill you.
In my short ownership, I can give you half-a-dozen instances where I coulda ate it in my TL.

Definitely a TSX... There is no signature TL 'character line' on the wreck they are pulling out of the river.
Totaly sucks for the woman and her family, but I'd have to agree with other posters..... The TL and/or TSX should've been ok in that situation, handling-wise. I have to believe that there were other factors at work here.

You report to NHTSA that some drunk guy driving 60 in a 45, ran a red light, and kills somebody... Then because speed is listed as a factor, it is used as reasoning to justify other things. Even though the actual cause was running a red light, and perhaps drunk driving.
Corollary does not equal Causality. That's my biggest pet peeve with these things.

Something weird must have happened, I've driven on I-84 many times at 75 mph or more.

Tell me about how "they" skew numbers for their benefit, at least with cars, there's more of them cause they're used for everyday needs.
There were many articles talking about this.
WI is looking at 24/7 55MPH limit... Most machines will crack a c-note in 6-8 seconds.
Personally, I think the problem with drivers in this country is not that people drive too fast. The problem is lack of driver education. People almost view driving as a god-given right in this country. If tightened down our licensing program like many other countries do, perhaps be wouldn't have so many accidents.
