TL Sales

Just for kicks, I decided to look into the sales figures for the TL and compare it with the G35. What I found out surpised me. So far in 2004, 38,401 TLs have been sold. I found that only 20,682 G35 Sedans have been sold.

Am I missing something? I actually thought that the numbers would be similar, or the G35 would be higher than the TL due to all the "wins" in the car mags.

Maybe this is because the TL is in its first year of production?

My wife is thinking of trading in her 350Z on a 04WDP TL (shes in my 03 Max more than I am now), but is having second thoughts after our bad TLS's experience.

Actually 35083 is the total sales of the G35 and G35 Coupe combined together. And since Acura has at least 50% more dealerships around the US. I would say that isn't all that great for the TL. But it is selling ALOT, and so did the G35 when it first came out.

Actually, I just looked back at the 2002 and 2003 sales, and it looks like the G35 sold just under 30,000 and 35,000 G35 Sedans in those years respectively. Surprising. I honestly would think that sales would be much higher. Acura TL sales for 2002 and 2003 were 61,000 and 57,000.

I guess I don't know why I care about this other than the fact that I am surprised at these figures.

I personally don't think that folks in the market for a sedan are looking at the coupes, but I could be wrong. That's why I didn't include any of the coupe sales figures. I think their different beasts.

well, I was thinking that the G35 and TL are the same class of car (not considering the FWD / RWD issue). Someone considering the TL or G35 might also be interested in the G35 Coupe. The TL does not have a coupe to take sales from the sedan like the G35. I thought the original statement was comparing sales numbers of TL to the G35 sedan, that's why I said what I did. Oh well.....just babbling
