Smile TL-S vs 2002-03 330Ci

I'm on 78 out of the Holland Tunnel doing about 70 and see these HiD's gaining on me as it gets closer I can tell they are BMW lights so I pick it up to 90 till we get to the tolls. We hit out of the tolls and he gets about 2 cars on me from the jump I reel him easily by 70 still riding 3rd gear take it too 100 at about 6800rpm and drop it in 4th and put 3 cars on him like he was standing still. After messing around a lot today I really got to see what this the S has to offer..I'm happy now gotta to really start modding.

330 Automatics are no problem for the Type S, but a very well driven manual 330ci is a really good race for a stock TL-S. One of my good friends had an 03 330 ci 5-speed and we would be neck and neck till 90ish when my 02 TL-S was stock. I would only start walking him a bit from 90-115 due to his shift into 4th and me being in VTEC 3rd. The key is to hold 3rd gear in the TL-S to the rev limmiter (around 7200) when racing. A lot of beginners to the TL-S make the mistake of shifting into 4th gear early. Enjoy your TL-S....

Exactly, I held it to 6800. I just wanted to get him so bad since everyone was saying in a different thread that the 330 would beat a TL-S. It was definately enjoyable.

Oh, it's faster around a track. Straight-line... Type-S has a slight edge on the E46 330. I raced and beat a 6-speed without breaking a sweat and this was a long time ago before most of my mods.

A 02-03 330i Auto vs Acura TL TypeS is a drivers race period. No way you put 3 cars on one, if you did the guy wasn't trying or somethings wrong with his car. My friend has one(02 AUTO), and while their only "rated" at 225hp they sure do feel like they put out more like 250 hp.

Ask blktl1 how a 330i Auto matches up against a Type S stock for stock. He knows, he went up against my friends 330i AUTO w/intake only. It's a drivers race all the way. No offense, but you've been racing one-armed monkeys, a well driven 5-spd shouldn't have to much of a problem beating out a Stock Type S.

If you say so man..Your boy must be chipped or something because it wasn't hard at all beating this guy and my boy who has a 3G not even as modded as Blktl's destroyed one also.

Listen man I don't own a bmw, I own a nissan, so I'm not here to try and glorify a bmw. All my friend has is an intake, thats it. And from what I understand chips do next to nothing for 330's, all they do is remove the speed limiter. Who knows maybe you beat a 325i posing as a 330i. Anyway, I see your from jersey, what part if you don't mind me asking?
