Tl rooof wing

I have a 2005 Acura TL and I'm looking for the spoiler wing that goes on top of the back window. I cant find it for anything less than $300. Is it cheaper anywhere else ?

Yep... all you need is a 45inch urethane lip spoiler (tradionally for a 1995 civic).

Just find anything that is 115mm wide, and you go it.

I initially thought the same, that a trunk spoiler would look weird. Now that I did it, I don't think it would look good if it was any bigger, it just won't look right IMO. Unless you get one that is really designed for the lines of the TL it's going to look like too much. Some cars look better with the bigger roof spoilers than others.

I don't see anything for a 3rd Gen on that site - do you have a direct link to the roof spoiler? I'd be interested if it looks OEM and comes pre-painted.

Based on the price he stated, he is looking at the roof spoiler for the 03' models

Any and all searches that I've done came up the same. Either they dont make it for 3rd Gen. Or the part was Between $ 200 and $300. I dont see why its that expensive. I just bought the trunk lip spoiler from e bay fro 75 bucks , Painted and delivered. If any og you guys know where i can get the roof spoiler cheap , Let me know.

3rd Gen Tl Roof Spoiler

I ordered one through EBAY last week and it came in 2 days ago. It was only $65 plus $25 to ship... it said 04-07 Acura TL roof spoiler on the manifest but noticed it said 06 Civic spoiler on the box... it still fit though and after contacting the company they said the 06 Civic spoiler would fit and work with the 3rd gen TL... there was a very small gap about 1/4 of an inch on each end (between the window edge and the spoiler) i havent fully installed it yet because i'm waiting to get it painted... over all i think another $100 to get it painted with a clear coat at a good paint shop will do the trick nicely... as soon as it's on i'll post the pics.

Nice car. Any links to pics that you've posted? I just bought a 04 WDP and I'm considering the A-spec kit.

All that will do is increase drag due to exaggerated separation over the trunk. On a sedan you would most likely want something like a vortex generator to help fill in the trunk area, reduce drag, and increase the efficiency of the rear wing...

This is the standard part on the Evo MR:

And they work like this:

Very cool, but I don't think a car like the TL would look right with the "school of baby sharks" vortex generator on the back. I'd much prefer a wing like the old BMW CSL coupe (only perhaps not quite so radical).

The spoiler is definitely going to create drag but it is so minimal, who really cares? A sunroof deflector or ventvisors will cause more drag than a roof spoiler. I doubt an A-Spec kit does much more than add some negligible weight and drag as well. Look at the design of our sidemirrors; not all that aerodynamic, they could have done better. Roof spoiler is all about looks, nothing else.

Its not like our cars are F1 cars or jet fighters. Its a luxury car, the Cd just needs to be reasonable. We aren't going above 100mph everyday.

Not so nicely put considering the following as fact:

1- The A-spec kit is wind-tunnel proven to improve CD.
2- A vent-visor won't cause separation over the rear end of the car (but it's ugly and I would never install one anyways)
3- The roof spoiler is ugly & ricey.

LOL!

My response to your list of facts:

1- OK Maybe I'm wrong by saying it creates drag. I'm sure some careful design went into the A-Spec kit and just by looking at it you can tell it's a nice piece without anything unecessary sticking off it. But if it decreases drag it's very minimal. If Cd was improved by even a factor of .01 then the weight of it negates it. Just by you and a passenger sitting in the car would probably negate it! It's just streamlined. But does it minimize life or increase downforce? I'm just saying it's not a serious functional bodykit made for racing in some Can-Am. There are serious bodykits made for racing that completely change the aerodynamics of the car. An A-Spec is more for looks. I think a lot of people just go too far when thinking of aerodynamics to the decimal point or weight-saving to the ounce. That's all for racing.
2- Vent-visors are made pretty streamlined but still may create still drag being on the side of the car. Saying they're ugly is your opinion.
3- Saying that roof spoilers are ugly again is not a fact, just your opinion.

BTW stillhere153, I saw that auction as well, but if you look closely at it, it dosen't look like a real roof spoiler. It looks very much like a generic "M5" spoiler that you can get for half the price all over Ebay. Don't be fooled, they just did some clever editing and repackaging on that one!

TL roof spoiler

hey stillhere153 and rockyreller , I picked up that exact roof spoiler from e bay andhad it sprayed. I installed it last week and it fits and looks great. Any where else you look for a spoiler like that it's going to cost a hell of a lot more.

There you go. I chanced and went with carbon fiber

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=roof

I'd say a roof spoiler looks better with a wing spoiler than another lip spoiler. I had mine on for a month now and I have grown to like it even more. Looks really good at certain angles, pics don't do it justice, looks better in person. I'm keeping it, it looks unique.
