TL population growing fast

for the past few months i've only probably like 4 on the road. but today driving back from work i saw 3. a green one at lunch which had a female driver(probably not on this board because there are only like 4 girls), a black one on the grand central, and a blue one on the LIE/BQE. the one in the blue waved hi before he went on the williamsburg. so if anyone of those TL owners are on this board i'm just saying hello. BTW how the hell does everyone keep their car so clean. it rained like everyday today. i was a little embarassed because my TL is so dirty. well gonna give her a wash tomorrow.

It is like the pods from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" - at first they invaded slowly, then bam! Everybody was a pod! Bam! You go into the Acura dealer and bam! You're a TL owner!

LA is becoming the same way. I hear it's becoming a really common vehicle in Orange County but here in the San Fernando Valley it hasn't been too bad yet..... At least it's not as bad as BMWs..... throw a rock in any direction on the 405 and you'll hit a BMW.

I would imagine the Bimmer owners do not appreciate all those rock chips!

Every time in the past this topic has come up, I've had nothing to report. However, this time, there is a veritable explosion of TLs here in Northeast Ohio. I've been seeing a couple every day for the last few weeks.

I knew this would happen someday......not being unique. sniff! Oh, well!

I still love my car, and it's nice to see others who have such good taste on the road.

Cool

caball88,

Talk about sighting again, huh, I was in GCP between Queens and Nassau four times on Thursday morning (8-9AM) and afternoon (3-4PM). Totally I saw five 04TLs... Anthracite (lady), Blue (man), Black(man), and 2 Silver (man).

Usually I see more than one 04TL per day since Jan, and see more SL500 than 04TL... but not Thursday.

I just spent 5 days in Wash DC and Bethesda, MD and saw 11 TL's while I drove around. They're everywhere. I saw Donald Sutherland, too. Luckily he didn't point at me!

Smile Almost none in Dayton

I started looking for a car about two months ago. In that time I've seen one 2004 TL. A young lady pulling into a WalMart parking lot (is counseling necessary?). Several G35's, tons of BMW3xx, and way too many Lexi. Everyone seems to be driving Bimmers or Lexi around here - I'm glad I won't be (if I ever get me TL).

Ditto here. I ordered mine in mid-January and picked it up on March 30. During that time, with constant looking for them (wanted to point them out to my kids) I saw a total of 3.

The Monday after I got mine, I pass one in our work parking lot. Two days later, another shows up that parks near mine. On the road, I have seen probably 10-15 of them in the past 2.5 weeks.

I live in Toronto and I ordered in January. I saw one a a silver TL a couple of days after I ordered. I took delivery of my SSM navi auto on March 9. I didn't see another one until Tuesday when I saw a black TL near the Eatons' centre. I saw a SSM non-navi in the parking lot at Bayview Village this morning but that is it so far.

When I first purchased mine back in Dec, the car was unique and quite a conversation piece. Now, they're all over the place. I still admit that it's not like a black bmw - they really are all over the place. But then again, seeing more is not necessarily a bad news - just reaffirms my good purchase decision. I sill miss being unique.

ROFL!!!

Interesting that you are seeing so many of them. Just north of you I have seen like two other TLs in a month! What's really strange is that I know lots of people in this area love Acura, because about half the cars on the road are second-gen TLs!

I just got mine in February. I live in the Chicagoland area, and have seen about every color but white . So I still don't feel like I have a car everyone else has.

Even norther New Mexico......

This area is not densly populated. I didn't see any for months. Since January I've seen five and there's only one freakin' dealer in whole state!

Sounds like a nation wide phenomena.

On the positive side...
NOW autopart makers will have no excuse not to fabricate body kits and other parts for the TL,
soon you will have plenty of options to make your car unique.

If you really want a unique car then I recommend that you build one for yourself from scratch. Our cars are mass produced gentlemen (and ladies).... I enjoy being somewhat special myself but realize that it is only for the time being..... ricers will be mutilating the TL before we know it....

The only thing that you can really do if you want a car that is rare on the street and will remain rare is purchase one that is so damn expensive that only a handful of people can afford them....

If you actually go back and read the original post, including the one above it, it was a very poor attempt at humor by rets. It was in poor taste, granted, but I don't think he meant anything by it.

Well, Hot... I asked for clarification and got jumped on by NeuronBob. Apparently he's super-sensitive about this so I just dropped it.

I also wondered what he thought was rare and why.

Of course we all know about TL being mass produced (no need to mention it).
But when I see 5 TL's in a parking lot, I like to know which one it is instead of trying my keys on all of them...

You can improve your TL without being ricey.

I can improve the TL in many ways...
my options are:
- Rain sensor to control wipers (like BMW)
- Power rear shade, and manual shades on the rear windows
- Integrated voice & beep operated Rear Backup Sensors (with no holes).
- Automatic Headlights
- Reflective Safety triangle under the trunk lid (like Audi)
- Auto-start FM 2-way pager Alarm, car locator (range : 1 mile)
- Bigger/better tires and rims... (not too flashy).
- small ham radio antenna, so I can talk to the world for free.
(I already have an Extra-Class license)

All these are cheap changes that improves the car
without having to pay exorbitant amounts for another brand.

you have to be open minded (the TL is not for boring people).

I've frequently mentioned improvements, but no one (except you and me) seem to think them worth talkin' about. I'd like to see:

1.Dual sun shades (two sets driver and passenger, for when the sun is in the corner or rapidly changes - great during the morning commute).
2. Definitely better tires.
3. I've made mention of the power rear and manual side shades before
4. Auto leveling and turning headlights (like 5 series)
5. Automatic headlight shutoff
6. MP3's ID/TAG in NAV
7. Larger Compass in NAV. Temp in NAV.
8. Trip computer in NAV
9. Better Leather
10. Agree with speed sensitive wipers and also fluid level indicator.
11. Agree with no holes for back up sensor. Camera would be nice.

Bigger changes I'd like to see:
1. run flats with Tire Pressure Mon
2. SH-AWD
3. I'd really like OnStar as a backup for my cell
4. hybrid (someday)
5. Ipod connection in the center console to include charging with 'ipod' like controls on the touch screen.

Of course, these would drive the cost up considerably and that's why many of the second group probably won't happen.

all good suggestions...

I think the Auto lights off is already there, since they turn off when you lock your car with the fob (lock it twice), or after certain amount of time.

I always live my parking lights on, so when I return to my car, and unlock the car, the lights stay on... easier to find your car (or make sure it's yours before trying the doors..).

Up until today, Here in PA I had only seen 2 TLs - maybe the same one White in the last 5 months. Today while taking a joy ride, I saw three. Now if we could only get these people to wave - hell, when I had Mustang GTs and Taurus SHOs we always waved to each other. I guess we're just to suffisticated!
