TL-p vs. Eclipse '04 GTS

So yeah, my girlfriend's friend thinks my tl is no match for his eclipse since he just got a new tranny and a stage 1 racing clutch. I just didn't say anything...but wanted to know if I can take him. Results?

Should be close. It depends on his skills. If he's good, he should walk you just by a bit.

uhhhh.. no chance. same hp, so the manual puts more power to the wheels, and it's a fricking 2800lb car. you'll get dusted.

A well driven GT-S should take a TL-P.

I am going to have to say it will be a drivers race. Those Eclipses have the 3.0L 210HP 205TQ and about 3250lbs. They run low-mid 15's stock with the 5spd MT. Your TL-P runs about the same 1/4 mile times as a stock GTS. Race from a roll since he has the racing clutch. He probobly will get you from a dig. Good luck!

thanks for the input guys! . Also, I'm thinking about getting a CAI. Would the outcome still be the same?

No problem! This is what this forum is for

The CAI only adds 5-8whp or so I believe, for sure it will make you more competitive. But in the end the outcome might still be the same, and what we have said above still hold true.

thanks guys. I just hate it how he says that i'm no match for his car. "It's not even a type-s," is what he says to me all the time. At least my car looks better.

get headers to go with the CAI and then you'll definitely spank him.

My brother has an 04 eclipse GTS. He has a CAI and Megan exhaust. Basically in first gear before 4000 rpm we're neck to neck. Then when Vtec kicks in I'll put bus lengths on him. By the end of 2nd gear we usually just shut it off because it's not a race anymore.

That's with a TL-S with cai and stage 3 exhaust. If your friend has the SDS supercharger, it'll probably smoke your TL-P. It puts out about 270 hp to the wheels when the car is tuned. Stock for stock I would say you have an extremely good chance at beating him. Make sure you have < half a tank of gas, turn off VSA, and keep your shifts within vtec.

The way he said that sounds like he thinks he can take Type-S' too, haha.

~Cheers~
