TL newbie question - clarification on ASPEC vs. TL-S ASPEC rear for 2006 Base

Full disclosure - I'm new to L ownership and have been reading the TL bodywork and exhaust threads as fast as I can, but I need some help on the terminology.

According tho the threads, the popular rear underspoilers available for my '06 TL seem to be the ASPEC and the ASPEC TL-S. Is the ASPEC TL-S rear the same as part R528P (Red Moroccan pre-painted)? At the dealership they just list a 2007 TL-S underspoiler, with no "ASPEC" mention in the part description.

Also, will both of these fit on the base '06 rear bumper (after some cutting of the original bumper)?

Pardon if this has been defined already.

Thanks.

the a-spec for the TL Type-S has wider exhaust tip openings because the Type-S has quad tip exhaust (4 exhaust tips).

the a-spec for 04-08 base TL are all the same because throughout these years they all had the same exhaust tips.

IF you get the base a-spec rear lip it's gonna be a little hard getting quad exhaust tips to fit.. so keep that in mind

and lastly, YES! you can put the 07-08 Type-S rear a-spec lip on any 04-08 base TL! you just simply have to cut out your actual bumper a bit than you put the type-s rear lip over it. pretty much your just cutting your base bumper exhaust tip area a little wider to compensate for the wideness of the type-s a-spec rear lip kit!

I don't recommend getting the Type-S A-Spec rear lip if you're NOT planning to upgrade your exhaust/tips.

Looks too funny with the base exhaust tips.

Any write-ups for cutting the bumper and how much you have to cut, etc?? I wouldn't do it myself, but just curious as to how much "a little wider" is. I like the Type-S aspec better myself

On that topic, what about front aspec bumpers? I believe you have the 04-06 base AND TL-S aspec, 07-08 base aspec, and 07-08 TL-S aspec, correct?? Is this set it stone with the car you have or what?

Well, you listed 4 and there's only 3 lmao

I have seen all front lips modified to fit on a different trim level. It's do-able.

The only tricky one is mounting a 07/08 front lip on a 04-06 because lack of lower fog lights.

thanks! This clears it up... kinda. I still don't know why the references are to a "Type-S ASPEC" when it is really a type-S underspoiler that can fit on any 3rd gen TL.

But yes I agree - adding an underspoiler for a base TL follows this:
Type S = quads for the best appearance
ASPEC = stock or ATLP base (or equivalent) exhaust tips for best appearance.

Whew!

Are the ASPEC (non TL-S) exhaust cutout dimensions any wider than the base exhaust cutouts?

It's called a "Type-S A-Spec" because the rear lip for the Type-S is different compared to the Type-S A-Spec.

YES, THE TYPE-S, and TYPE-S A-SPEC BOTH HAVE WIDE EXHAUST CUT OUTS TO FIT THE QUAD EXHAUST, but the Type-S A-Spec rear lip also adds a new look to the rear bumper.

PRETTY MUCH THE TYPE-S REAR A-SPEC LIP IS TO ENHANCE THE LOOK OF YOUR REAR BUMPER TO A MORE SPORTY LOOK, WHILE STILL RETAINING QUAD EXHAUSTS!

It cannot just "easily" be fitted onto any 3g TL. It will fit the Type-S rear bumper no problem. On the base bumper however, YOU WILL HAVE TO CUT YOUR BUMPER UP A BIT (YOUR ACTUAL CAR BUMPER) for the type-s a-spec lip to fit.

ALL EXHAUST CUT OUTS FOR BASE A-SPEC KITS (2004-2008 BASE MODELS) ARE REGULAR SIZE. THEY WILL NOT FIT ANY QUAD CAT BACKS

I'm not yelling at you by the way, just trying to make it clear. CAPS YOYOYOYO
