Arrow TL n00b

Greetings all. I am new to the TL world and figured I'd stop in and see whats up.

I just purchased a NBP 08 Type-S 6 M/T about 3 weeks ago and already I am thinking of which mods I want to do. The only problem is figuring out which one to do first.

I have been browsing around the site so far and already bookmarked a few mods I want to look into. Mostly cosmetics so far.

So far I have figured that I want to:

- 15% tints
- HID fogs
- Red painted calipers
- Rebadge with red emblems
- Smoke tails
- CAI
- J-pipe

Any thoughts/tips/suggestions are welcome.

So far I have figured that I want to:

- 15% tints
- HID fogs
- Red painted calipers
- Rebadge with red emblems - i don't know what you mean by this
- Smoke tails - you have a type-s. type-s tail lights are beautiful. please don't ruin the tails by spraying or applying black tint spray/film to it. If you want to modify your tail lights, please correctly open them up and have them done (we have vendors on AcuraZine that offer these services. AckTL05 and JnC are 2 that I can think of)
- CAI - not really a bang for your buck. at $250 new, you will be getting 1-2whp at most, but you will hear the intake if that's what you want. IMO take this $250 and invest in something else
- J-pipe - best bang for your buck. wanna know what has even more of a bang? A J-Pipe that has a built in 3rd cat delete. Richies RV6 V3 J-Pipe is the only j-pipe that i know of on the market as of right now that has a built in 3rd cat delete. ATLP and XLR8 are coming out with their versions in the future. Earlier versions of the J-Pipe DO NOT delete the 3rd cat, forcing you to re-use the OEM stock 3rd cat (which is pretty restrictive. restrictive exhaust system = less power). to replace the oem 3rd cat with a race pipe or high flow cat would cost $150-$300. save yourself the hassle and money and get a brand new j-pipe with a built in 3rd cat delete for only $450 total

Any thoughts/tips/suggestions are welcome.
what are you going for?

handling
power
aesthetics

Dude, very nice. Consider lowering the car with simple Sports Springs, since you've got a stuff ride with a Type S.

Eventually all of the above. Figured I could start with aesthetics for now.

Was either gonna paint the A trunk emblem red or I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA-RED-HOOD-TRUNK-EMBLEM-TL-TSX-RSX-INTEGRA-RL-/290597431490?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &hash=item43a8f4e8c2.

Also was gonna paint inside the cup on the grille red to make the front emblem stand out a little more. I thought the red/black theme would look cool.

The logo with the red background isn't bad at all, especially if you're painting your Brembo's.

Yea thats what I thought. Figured it kinda pop a little more then just stock. not looking to remove the other badges, just change the A to make it a bit more noticeable.```

Check out My Garage from the title of my signature. I've trimmed the front grill and rear vent of my Type S with red pinstripping. It's classy, and will go well with what you're doing to your Type S.

Im liking the pinstriping. Also interested in your rear badge light, the Type-S badges on the sides, and the LED in the headlights.

^^^

1. The rear red LED Badge is from a vendor here named Amp'd Emblem (www.AmpdEmblem.com)
2. The extra Type S badges were purchased on EBAY and added.
3. The LED's in the headlights are from www.Oznium.com. They are the flexible side emitting LED 2 foot strip. I've got a thread showing the install in the Photography Section. If you do a Search for "Buda is the man", you can find it!

Car looks great...reminds me of what mine looked like some time ago...Congrats and welcome! I'd say tints, drop, aspec kit in that order if styling is more important to you than performance...

Thanks. That dealer is near Asbury Park. About an hour and a half from AC. I can get to AC faster then I can that dealer haha.

An Aspec kit is the spoiler kit (front and rear) and the side skirts. They look good on a base TL, but the Aspec Kit for the Type S is much different from the Base TL's kit. I'm not a fan, but search for Aspec Kit and you'll see lot's of threads on it!

Here the link for the headlights:

Those red ebay Acura emblem you linked isn't for the 04+ TLs. It's for the earlier TLs. Our "A" Logo is bigger than 2.5x2.5 inch. its closer to 3-4 inches.

Also the rear emblem has a slight curve to the back of it because of the trunk. Take a real close look at your rear A emblem on your TL when you get a chance and you will see that it isn't just a flat backing, but contours with the trunk in a way.

IIRC the red ebat emblem is for the rear only. I know that the front is larger. Not sure if it has the correct curve or not, will look into it further.

**Just out of curiousity do you have a "tighten gas cap light" on? The reason I ask is because in the upper right portion of your navigation screen there is a picture of an "envelope." Push the picture of the envelope and a set of current stored codes will show up. I bought mine Certified from an Acura dealer with the envelope in the navigation screen. Fortunately, it was an easy fix covered under warranty. Congrats again!

I didnt have the gas cap warning. I looked at teh envelope earlier and apparently the prev owner lever read all of the stock messages that come with the car so I have to go through and mark them all as read. I just havent done it yet.

That's what i'm trying to say. Our rear "A" Logo on our 04+ TL is alot larger than 2.5x2.5 inches.

That red "A" Emblem you see on eBay is what the 94-01 Integra and 01-06 RSX people usually put on the rear of their cars. These were early model Acuras and had the small "A" emblem on the trunk

if you want a red emblem in the rear, the only one i can think of is the Ampd emblems.

check it out pictures here - http://www.ampdemblems.com/Photo_Gallery.html

and here's all their products. they sell it front and rear, or just seperate. - http://shop.ampdemblems.com/main.sc
