TL on MotorWeek Thoughts
many discussions at http://forums.clubrsx.com regarding the matter
the only real accurate way to gauge your 0-60 time is at a track that times it. 0-60 is used with a launch from a stop

Thanks for the link, I will check it out, as I'm interested in hearing how it compare to other methods.
BTW, by roll out I mean that the timing starts after a roll out, typically 8-16 inches at the strip. The G-Timer uses 12" by default, though it can be set to 0". That would add about 1/3 of a second depending on the car.

Forget the damn mags. I had a TL's The best it ever did was 6.7 with torque braking normally it was pulling 7 to 7.2. I cave no doubt in my nid my new six is at least one second faster to sixty and no less than half a second less at 1/4 mile. The 2nd generation forte was not off the line, it was that sweet kickdown power for passing. The previous engine also lost power at a slower speed (around 110) the six speed keeps accelerating sweetly till around 130.

RE: "Rubbery transmission"
I absolutely love my new '04 TL, but compared to the tranmisssion in my NSX it is noticably less 'positive'
eg: you can really feel each of the shifts/gears when going through teh revs in the NSX.. in the TL it is more 'gliding'.
The clutch in the NSX is also more positive (grabby, etc...)
Personally - i dont think this is a bad thing - the TL is more luxury and i dont expect it to feel the same as an NSX. The tranmission shifts nice and smooth.. i can drive the car with 3 other ppl in it and nobody complains about head snapping shifts... The girlfriend always complains when i drive hard in the 'x' - LOL
when i want that, i just drive the other car.. i say the TL is great as it is..
good job, honda... for the 4th gen TL all we need is rear wheel drive

spdntckt: You're comparing your $90,000 car's transmission to our $33,000 car's transmission? I hope we get a posting from a Ferrari owner telling us how the handling qualities of their vehicle are superior to ours. LOL
Sorry.. the post was not meant to be dis-respectful at all.. and in truth i was not trying to directly compare the two because i do realize there is a cost difference.. having said that.. owning both.. and knowing that they are both 'honda' vehicles, i figured i would offer up my observation between the two.. given the critisism that MW was giving...
I guess in summary what I was trying to say is that honda can certainly build a 'crisp and racy' transmission... they did it in the nsx.. not sure that is what they were going for in the TL.. and i think what they did on the TL is a nice balance between peformance and luxury
thats all.. happy motoring!
