Link to lots of 04 TL pics here:

I'd vote "yay" for the lip spoiler *only* if you balance the rest of the car to accommodate it. Lip alone makes the rear too heavy. Need mudguards or the fender trims to make it look balanced IMHO.

I bought my TL already with the lid from the dealer. The sales man told me that it was screwed on. I cant say anything about an after market one. But it realy looks good with the lid. Sorry I dont have any pic's yet.

I am leaning closer to getting a Lip Spoiler.
Anyone out there, that can make these out of composite materials?
No colormatching required......
Maybe that dude, that does the cleared headlights...
$200 each ????
Heck, maybe I'll get into making composite stuff for myself--it would be interesting.

The lip spoiler gets bolted on as well. Here is a site that details the installation procedure

I don't mean to be the one decenting vote but...
I think it looks better with nothing. Also, as stated before, it has to be bolted on. I ordered mine without a spoiler. Just seems better that way. Man I must be getting old.
However, if you are going to go through the trouble of drilling and bolting something on the truck, it seems to me that the wing spoiler (larger one) is a better choice. That being said, I think that the TL looks good with any of the options. I would take one with either if I could get it faster. I can't believe I have to wait six weeks. Well I guess that is what happens when you live in the middle of no where.

the extra $300.00 hurts b/c you HAD to spend the $30K on the car... no choice .. but you do not have to shell out $300 for a spoiler -- and you can do a lot of other things w/ $300 than enjoy the look of a spoiler on your trunk --

keep in mind that they also have to paint the thing to match the car
i dont know much about painting cars myself. but painting, in general, is a painful process. i know when you paint guitars it can take a few color layers with light sanding/prep between each coat and a final clear coat or two.
300 bucks for the deck lid sounds a little high, but im sure theyre making some dime on the extras as well

well. i dont think the spoilers are made from car-colored plastic right?
they all have to be painted. painting anything (especially to be an all weather outdoor item) is labor intensive.
the deck lid spoiler is a small item, but i bet it still takes quite a bit of work to produce them properly.

Sorry Pete, have to disagree. You had a choice to spend 30k on a car. You also have the choice to spend 300 on a spoiler. To me 300 one time is not such a big deal for how good it looks.
