Nothing, why would you make such a smooth car sound like shit!!!

 

You honestly think that a little engine noise is such a bad thing?? I'm sure this guy is looking for a nice throaty sound, not a tin can Civic kind of a sound. Also, the exhaust will do a lot to boost horsepower. I understand what you are saying if people go over the edge, but just because someone is adding an exhaust doesn't mean the car will sound shi**y.

 

Well he said he wants to make it louder and still be legal. Meaning he wants it REAL LOUD to the point where its almost illegal. I understand its a horepower booster, but IMO I dont want my smooth TL sound like a Harley....if you wanna do that, got buy a used Datsun or something! Dont ruin a pretty car!!!!

 

i agree w/ vtech..i don't think anybody would make a car like the TL sound like SHISH...Let's take the g35 coupe or the infiniti fx as an example. Both cars are pretty loud but damn that sound is so sweeet....I also hope that they come out with an exhaust for the TL that will give it a boost on HP and make it sound even sweeter...as for now, i will settle for the sound when the vtech kicks in

 

Sounds perfect to me as is! I honestly laugh at people who have big exhausts and loud sounding noise. Wonder if they notice how dumb they look?

 

They can't notice that they look dumb because they are too busy dealing with the big headache their loud exhaust has caused.

Like Ryan said, I think there is a right way to add an exhaust without making the car look/sound cheezy.

 

i prefer it quiet, if i wanted a loud exhaust i would have gotten a different car. the ride in the TL is comfortable, quiet and still sporty. the torque on the car is 238lbs getting a larger exhaust might do more harm than good. but i can understand if someone wanted something that sounded more similar to the g35 coupe exhaust. its louder but not annoying. just wait a bit the aftermarket scene for the TL will pick up for sure.

 

FX45 Sounds soo dam awesome

 

i wouldn't mess with the mufflers, i would more mess with the pipe where the headers come together and go to the cat, Vtec.net said this is a perfect place to open up the HP and would also give more of an exhaust note

 

I think the 350, FX 35/45 and G35 sound stupid. It is an annoying whiney sound. I liked it at first, but it gets obnoxiois. Waaaaaaaaaaaaa

 

Wait for Comptech's Mufflers to come out .. it's actually a cat-back system (that you can buy only the mufflers if you so choose) due out for the '04TL in about 6 months...

It'll be pretty sweet .. and guess what.. they've redesigned those stupid-ass exhaust tips to be stainless steel ovals .. they were considering double barrels as well .. final design isn't out yet for the tips.

 

Guess you don't like the stock shape of the tips. I do. I don't think I would buy a kit that doesn't match up with the factory cutouts. In fact, I would really like to see a more angular shape like the A-Spec concept. For what these companies are charging for exhaust systems, they can exercise some creativity beyond diving into the scrap bin for yet another generic exhaust tip.

They better find some more power than they did with the TSX kit too...
