Raf, its called Grade Logic, and its a feature for the Automatic transmissions.

Also, I know you're a new member but this generation (the 3rd gen) has been in production for 4 years. Any questions that you have, might have already been answered. Try a simple search first, as this forum has lots of great and useful information.

I simply typed in "engine braking" and found several threads.
also, our search function is kinda funny...sometimes you cant find the results you're looking for. When that happens use google and type in...Acurazine+whatever you're looking for.
Hope this helps.

if it sounds unnatural, then you may have a problem. the car does brake (slow down) the car when going down hills, but it shouldn't sound bad as in something breaking. maybe a little better description of the problem would help.

to me it sounds like wheel bearings. kinda rumble when off the gas and radio is off. but i see that our Trans does engine break which could be that sound. when i hear semi trucks engine breaking it has that tone just not nearly as loud. but i have had bearings go out before and that is also similar sound.

i just bought car 6days ago would that be covered under warranty still?

Semis make that sound due to the Jake brake. Unless you have aftermarket exhaust it should be no louder than when you accelerate. By chance have you added an aftermarket sub?
