TL is down =/
Jesus, you're in school and you have a 5 series AND a TL? No offense but I honestly don't feel bad for you at all, not that you deserve it, and I hope that hit and runner dies in a fire. Hope your grandmother is okay though.
I have a hard time sympathizing with someone who is given 2-3 cars (who's still a kid) and yet I lost EVERYTHING except my car, and had to move 3000 miles away, less than 3 years ago. But I digress and I hope you get your TL back with all the work done properly. I hope for your future's sake, that your parents teach you responsibility and make you pay for your own things :-D.

Alright guys I think the bumper needs to be replaced. I am hoping the big dent in the quarter panel and the hood will pop out. My question to you guys is I am planning something unique and wanted to hear your opinions.
I am thinking of getting a ronjon front. I don't want to pay $300 for sidemirror with LED signal. I found 04 TL mirrors for $45 I am thinking of getting those and wrapping them in CF and wrapping my roof in CF.
So I will get ronjon front bumper, wrap roof in CF, wrap mirrors in CF and if hood needs to be replaced get a CF hood.

No I am. But I want to get a quote to the insurance and then buy these items. Make it look more unique. $300 for LED blinker mirrors when I can get them for $45. I can use the extra $255 on something else.
Insurance will say mirror will cost $300. I can tell bodyshop to buy whatever I want so I will get the $45 mirror and use the $255 on something else.

sorry to hear about your car and your grandma.
in terms of paying for the damages and what not...i'm having a hard time feeling bad for you in that dept. considering your age and what you already have...i had to bust my ass through college and grad school on my own dime and when it came down to finally being able to own a nice new car like my TL back in 05, it was and still is my pride and joy. anyway, good luck with your repairs. i just hope you realize how fortunate and privileged you are to have the things that you own.
BTW, i'm asian...my parents made me earn it. they didn't bail me out of anything.

So you're gonna have an 08 drivers side mirror and an 04 passengers side mirror? Ghetto. The carbon fiber can't hide the different shape of the mirror. I think you should just get the car fixed right.
Also, the car is gonna look awkward if the front is RonJon and the rest is plain Jane. It'll end up looking like a salvage titled car that was fixed on a budget.

Sorry to hear about your story bro, as long as nobody got hurt everything thing else is replaceable. Ur absolutely right about Asian parents!!!! But if you dont mind how old are you to have them blaming you for sister parking too close?
I think its strict parents in general to be honest. I'm white as white gets and my dad acts the same way. He bought the car, so I can deal with the rest I, which is fine with me. If I tell him something is wrong with the car he simply says "That sucks, better fix it."

Yea. I damn hope she knew what caliber car she was driving. I was driving a 93 DA Integra for all 4 years and just recently bought my TL after 9 mo of working in San Diego.
Anyways, that's my rant. Asian parents can very well spoil their kids too.

UCI...that stands for...i thought UCI was more like 50% asian.
Here's a tip: Use the money given to fix the car properly to fix the car properly. There's nothing wrong with trying to save money, everybody is. But you're considering having mismatched mirrors and a RJ front bumper? Really?
Please don't do that CF wrap and such. Besides some LEDs and such, your car is stock, and the CF will look out of place.
Get the proper parts and have it fixed to the way it was before the accident.

Everyone I wanted to update you. This took a bizarre turn and I am not sure what to believe. I am dumbfounded and incredibly angry.
My sister brought the car down to Baltimore 3 days ago. IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE HIT AND RUN. There is NO paint damage anywhere? Only one area is paint damaged and that is the bumper the dents seem odd and so does the random mirror. The mirror has no damage on it.
So me and my father went to a local reputable body shop here in Baltimore and told the guy what my sister told us. The guy started laughing and brought two other guys over. The guy said this car clearly has NOT been involved in hit and run. The only part that somewhat looked like hit and run is the front bumper where the paint is damaged.
The guy put the car on the lift and inspected it from underneath. HE SAID THERE IS FRAME DAMAGE. Without even taking off the bumper he already quoted us $7000 to fix it. He said it should rise up another $3-$4k. Now we are looking at $10-$11k in damages? WHAT THE HELL!? The bodyshop guy said his daughter did the same thing...she got into accident by herself and then told him another story. Obviously being the bodyshop guy he knew what happened and his daughter fessed up the truth.
So we got home and my father asked my sister to tell him what really happened. Well 5 min later she told us the whole story. Apparently she lost control going 40 mph while avoiding a deer and spun out and took out a tree landed in a field. She then went to school the next day and saw the mirror broken off and then blamed it on "hit and run".
I am just very disappointed. My beautiful TL damaged so badly. Frame damage is no good news. Now I can't even sell the car or anything. The value of the car is $24k if the bodyshop guy says $12k in damages I hope they total it out. The damage is underneath. I will try to take good pictures in the coming days.
I am surprised with frame damage the car made the 5 hour trip from NY to Baltimore. I am very disappointed at my sister for not telling the truth the first time around. I am glad the TL did a good job keeping her safe. Can't believe she took out a tree and the air bags did not deploy.
I think when a scenario emerges where its either a wild animal or risk swerving to avoid it.....the best case is hitting the wild animal.

1. I know you don't have a TL Type-S, so in order for your car to be worth 24k would be if its a '08 with 10k miles or LESS on it, in excellent condition (and even then KBB rates it a 25k, and kbb is usually 2-3k over what you'll actually get). That's private party value as well, not trade-in.
2. If your car is worth 24k, in order for it to be totaled, you would have had to do enough damage to equal/exceed the worth of the car; i.e. $24,000+ in damages. So if your car is worth more than 12k, I doubt they total it.
3. Learn from this scenario: don't let other people drive your car. I wouldn't even let my parents/siblings (32 years old and 29 years old) drive my car unless it was a dire emergency.
Nonetheless, good luck with the repair and keep us posted, :-D.

Just found out our insurance won't go up because we have NEVER had a accident. It says incident free...I hope windshield claim does not count as "incident".

I hate this fakking saying.
