TL Crash Test Video
Amazing how well the TL handles a front end collision!
check the door seams...
(the results were even a little better than the 5 Series)

Hey cool clip. I like the unnoticed feature at the end of the clip of having the windshield wipers come on after the crash to clear your view so you can continue on your way afterwards....

Not a Blowhole
Pretty cool - I was looking for that big hunk of iron (the damper) in the front near the radiator, but did not see it. Since it did not hit the dummy, I guess it doesn't matter what became of it.

look at it this way, it did better then the bmw 3 & 5 (base seats) series, better then the g35 sedan and coupe, better then the audi a4 and s4, jauguar x type, volks passat and just as good as the lexus is 300 and mercedes c class
so getting hit from behind is bad, but could be worse if you drove one of the others mentioned

it cost $11,600 and 4 months to fix btw.
I think Anthracites are taking all the hits, together with SSM, it's just hard to see in a rainy day. Anthracites are the tougher cars out there!

Side Impact Video
I'll probably get flamed for this but I'll put up the link again for those who still haven't seen the side impact crash test video. The site that hosts the video for the IIHS (Institute for Highway Safety) is located at progessive's website. Here's the link and they've added some additional videos to include the TL's side impact video.

Now you may flame away.

Deformation...
One obvious thing about the TL front crash is that the passenger compartment hardly flexed. The front end crushed, but it pretty much stopped at the front fenders.
Notice that the doors hardly budged and the rocker panel trim stayed attached, which means little if any flex took place aft of the firewall. Yeah, the fuel door flew open, but there isn't much holding that closed and it's spring loaded to pop open a bit when the release is tripped.
You could see the door skins ripple on the BMW 5'er, but not on the TL.
So much for that wag who posted that Honda makes loose bodies and hides it with good suspensions and that German brands have better bodies.

Except that...
My TL has yet to exhibit any "rattles" what so ever. There's been some squeeking from the door seals rubbing against the door frame but that was easily addressed with some dry silicone lubricant.
