^^^ You may be right about a double din install, but doing so isn't all that common. Why does having a CD based nav make it useless? Are you talking about keeping up with updates??

I don't like to drill holes into the panel to mount phone gps mount or glue. The windshield mount suck as they fall off when ridding in rough road. Navi is there it's make the car much more luxurious than non navi model beside I can spend a little $$$ to make it become a screen to play movie through my iPhone, I bet you can do that without navi model without double din.

Speaking of the dash crack issue, is there any type of fix or repair for it?

Yeah, you go to the dealer on your hands and knees and beg for them to give you one for minimal cost.

There's been plenty of 07-08 TL's that suffered dashboard cracks. It's not as common as the 04-06 and it's mainly due to time. 2004-05 are older, and 2-4 years worth of time will be enough of a gap to either see a failure or not. Give it more time and the 07-08 will start becoming the new norm to failures. Keep in mind, the material nor design hasn't changed. Also, it's not just cars in warmer climates or down south that suffer the most. Most recently a lot of TL's in the Northern states suffered crack dashboards in the heart of winter, (as did mine). The issue still falls under a design flaw in which 90% of the time the same 2x locations form a crack.

The dashboard itself can no longer expand and contract and under stress will form a crack in a weak spot. I wouldn't worry about the dashboard failure, It's all a draw of luck. If it cracks, cross that bridge and worry about it then. When purchasing a used vehicle, it will have some sort of flaw. If you want 100%, worry free, purchase a new vehicle.

Yeah I own a CGP AT5 TL 07 right now. To me, I just wanted a nice commuter. If you're considering the performance boost, I'd go with the Type-S only if it was MT6. Plus, if you decide you enjoy the aesthetic look of the Type-S (more aggressive imo), you always have the option to purchase the A-spec kit which is what I am considering possibly doing. Either way, both are great cars and I don't think you could go wrong!

I could be totally wrong here as I'm assuming a lot, but I figure with an SD slot and having the software on some kind of actual drive might make it easier to hack/cheaper to update maps. I honestly don't really know if it is easier, as I'm basing it off of how I've rooted all my android phones and the like.
