Front pads and rotors were replaced at 19K miles - covered by warranty.

I had very bad vibration due to warped rotors, especially at high speeds. Since they've been replaced, no vibration just some squealing on the occassion.

Turning 42k miles ( 05 w/AT ) and dealer said I have about 80% left. Damn- I want to replace them with Rotora slotted w/Hawk pads. Will be hard to justify the new rotors and pads with that much left. Maybe I'll Black Market the stock ones.

took the car into Honda this morning...they tech looked over the entire brake system and said everything looked fine...about 50% left on the pads...

they suggested I bring it to an Acura dealer if it really bothers me...I might do that next week...

Here is the word from a mechanic

Brake inspections and approximate life remaining are a total joke without measurement of the pad thickness, rotor thickness and edgeing and rotor run-out.
Pads with lots of thickness remaining may be badly glazed or worn unevenly
Most techs just give a visual at the amount of space from the pad backing to the end of the bracket- the exposed metal is how far in the pad has moved
Look thru your rim and do the same thing!
If your pads were 8 mm new and now are at 4 mm with 2mm the MINIMUM
Figure the brakes are not working at full potential and should be replaced
Stop and go driving is harder on them than hard stops from speed

Brakes that needed 2 feet more room to stop the car, than there was room between the car in front of you and......,
now what are perfect spec brakes worth to you???????????

If you really want to enjoy the car- go to The Black Market- Sponsored sales
Those vendors support this forum and are good sellers of higher perfomance than stock- parts.

See MrHeelToe and Excellerate for post on brake rotor and pad combos and other goodies for your Acura and some other imports as well.
see www.racingbrake.com for lots of info on rotor construction
Support our vendors and have good brakes. Pease!!!!!!!!!
