TL badge pryed off

So some knucklehead decided that the "TL" on the back of my car was the object of his affection... and decided to act on it by prying it off with what looks like some sort of screwdriver:

Pretty ridiculous, huh?

Anyhow, I'm thinking I just want to clean off the adhesive that's left behind and leave it blank. Any suggestions on what works well removing the adhesive?

Also, I haven't dug through the forums too much, and I'm sure there's some good info to be found, but any good recommendations on touch up paint?

Thanks folks.

Clean the area first then GooGone or rubbing alcohol will remove the residue. First off warm the area with a hair dryer and use your thumb to roll off the foam leftovers.

As for touchup .. because of the pearls its going to be difficult but www.paintscratch.com is one of the better ones .. not cheap tho.

Like the first poster said, heat up the leftovers really really well. I usually put my hair dryer on it for at least 4-5 minutes. Makes removal so much easier.

As for a replacement, maybe put a nice "Type-S" badge in its place?

^ Same here. That sucks though. I don't get why people are making light of it in this thread. You'd be pissed if it happened to you.

To remove, clay bar works very well and much safer as opposed to chemicals which may cause some damage to your paint depending on how much pressure you put.

Wow that has to be one of the ghettoist things I've seen so far on this forum. Where do you live? I can't believe someone would do that. Probably either a crazed drug addict or a punk kid with nothing better to do.

WD40 will remove the white adhesive junk. I've used it on my car when I painted the badges black. Try using a basic compound like Scratch X to buff out the scratches, then follow up with a touch-up pen. I have a SSM Duplicolor pen that worked alright on my car for small scratches and chips.

Clay will not help you in this situation.

Like some others mentioned, heat/goo-gone/alcohol will help remove the leftover adhesive (and emblems if you want). The scratches, depending on the depth will have to be fixed with a touch-up pen or polishing compound.

I have used the touch ups from www.touchuppaintonline.com with good results. At this point, you might as well take off the badge to make it easy to fix the area.

Thanks everyone. Going to try the suggestions after Thanksgiving. The scratches luckily weren't that deep, so hopefully a little touch up will take care of it.

I'm not even as mad as I thought I'd be- it was just a combination of disbelief that someone would do that in general, and frustration that it happened in my neighborhood.

I'm in South Boston, MA... where there's been a weird uptick in unprovoked shenanigans lately, and compared to some of the other stuff going on, a few nicks and a missing logo isn't that bad.

Steve I'm also in Southie and someone stole my lip spoiler a few months ago and just recently the "ACURA" and "Type S" badges off of my trunk lid. I'll post pics up later but I wasn't as lucky as you with the scratches lol.

Where in Southie are you? Probably the same guy got both of us.

That sucks man- a buddy of mine in Brighton had his spoiler torn off his M3 with a screwdriver, but as you might imagine it put up more of a fight than the logo, resulting in some pretty serious dents and scrapes.

I'm near where East and West Broadway meet. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for an Accord with our badges...

Ouch...

And you have no idea how hard I've been staring at every riced out Civic/Accord/etc in our area lately lol.

I'm near W. Broadway and E Street so if you see a KBP TL-S partially debaged, beep lol.
