Tires - anyone with Dunlop SP5000?
My TL comes in 8 to 14 days. Thinking of switching over the EL42's for the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 or something else in the Dunlop line. Anyone using this tire or another Dunlop???
Seems I see a lot more complaints about the EL42's on other forums (except for Norse!).
Thanks!!!

I've had the SP5000s on my '97 Maxima SE for many years now and absolutely love them. My first set was Z-rated and I got over 70,000 miles out of them (the key is frequent rotation, bi-yearly alignments and good tire pressure monitoring). They handle awesome in rain or dry and are pretty quiet. Plus, they'll tackle the snow here in New England very well for an all-season tire. After the first set wore out, I replaced them with the exact same thing--first time I've ever replaced tires with the same kind. And when my stock Michelins finally wear out on my TL-S, I'll be buying SP5000s for it as well.

I had z-rated sp 5000's for a week on my 2000 Maxima. They handled amazingly, and were quiet, but the ride was stiff and with just a few hard corners and off/on ramps, the outer edge of the tire showed visible wear. I exchanged them because the roads where I lived were just too harsh for such a stiff tire. Tire rack has a comparison test here:

I owned the SP 5000's on my 2G TL and absolutely LOVED them. They were like glue in dry and wet weather, and were VERY serviceable in the winter. They flatspotted a bit during the winter, but not annoyingly so. They also wore very well. The only reason I didn't consider them for my current car is because I wanted to try the Falken ZIEX ZE512s this time around....to be installed this week.
You won't go wrong with the SP 5000s.

I have to agree with everyone here. I have them on my 97 Camry V6 and it's my 3rd set of Dunlops. They grip incredibly well dry or wet and are very quiet. I am from Boston and have never gotten stuck in the snow with these tires. I am almost positive I will be putting them on my TL come tire replacement time. The tread pattern is nice looking to boot. These gems are a well kept secret.
