Tiny turn signals

I was driving behind another TL this weekend, and I noticed how small the rear turn signal indicators are. I think they're almost too small - although this guy had his signal on, I hardly noticed it.

I can kind of see where you are coming from, but if you look around on the road, ours are pretty avg. in size, just in an odd location. At night, however, they are so damn bright that you can't miss 'em.

What about bulb type

I know the back lights are LED, but when I was behind a TL it appeared the turn signals were using a normal bulb... nothing scientific about that assessment, I just noticed the "on / off" had a bit of a lag i dont normally assiciate to LEDs. Are the turn indicators bulbs, or LED?

Turn Signals are bulbs. Brake lights are LEDs.

I'm interested to hear if this works. I'm concerned that the LED bulbs would place less of a load on the circuit, which would cause it to blink too fast.

well i would just get a restance balancer for each bulb to emulate what a regular bulb would give off, it would keep the same speed, or atleast something similar...

i tried looking for the bulb online, but couldnt find anything

for the 04TL they are 100% positive. If you have your friend brake for you and come up close and look at the brakes... they are individual leds spaced out...

oh, i thought the "individual look" was only b/c of the light cover...

and LED should be more bright~ but the break lights are same bright with the rear signal

lights...

ps: break lights = rear lights??? i mean whatever the bulb or LED...

Rear Signal Bulb Swap to LED

I'm curious about swapping out my rear signal bulbs to LED too. If anyone finds a way (and LED bulb supplier) to successfully accomplish that, please post.

A friendly warning: Be very careful when you mess with external lighting, esp rear lights, and turn signals. If they are not DOT, and you are involved in an accident, a savvy attorney, police officer, or insurance forensic investigator might well notice the change, and could conceivably argue that if the change you made did not meet DOT specs, it might not meet state specs, and you could end up with partial or complete liability if it were reasonably determined that the mod was the proximate cause of the shunt.

thanks RR. I will make sure to look out for these... i am sure that they are harder to find then regular ones, but if i do in the end try to do this, then I will make sure that I get one that is DOT aproved.
