Tinting question.
Tinting question.
Hello, I am new in the forum and I just bought an Acura tl 2004 base model. I love the car. I want to start investing in the car appearance so I was thinking to begin with the tinting. I live in new jersey, USA and i know that laws differ from state to state. Is it legal to tint a car in new jersey? I research some about this issue but I need an advice. Thanks.
You cannot tint the windshield or the front side windows unless you have a medical exemption.

Sometimes you can get away with tinting the front driver and passenger windows by going darker in the rear. While this can give the illusion of stock fronts, if you get pulled over for anything else, it'll be very easy for him/her to know you've got tints.
It all comes down to your risk level. I'm planning on getting 35% or 40% all around or quite possibly the combination of 35% rear and 50% front. I'll have to decide when I see the shades in person as they do vary somewhat between brands.

Just don't go too dark for the front windows. Worth the risk of getting pulled over. Tint changes the look so much
for the better! I went 35%/20% myself love how it looks. Keep your sunroof open during the day which will help make it appear to be lighter.
Also if you see a cop then roll down those windows asap lol

I have 50% front side windows and 15% for the rear- there's a visible difference between the front and back side windows, so as long as the policed can see you in the driver's seat, I don't forsee a problem. I have never been pulled over for the tint, and have driven by plenty of LEOs without incident. I have the tint more for keeping the car cooler in the sun and less for the look, but to me, it does look very good:

I have 15% all around, never been stopped in Delaware, but I do have medical exemption.
I have kinda... had nothing but headaches from tint. Did not have moleskin with 20% got HUGE scratches all over every window. They replaced it for free to 15%, paid for moleskin, and it worked... for a month. Started getting the adhesive that they put the moleskin on with on my windows, took forever to clean, and theres still a bit of scratches in the tint. But im... just not going to do anything, its livable right now.
The tint place I went to was very reputable (and $$) and they said that the TL is a troublesome car to tint. I love the look and wont go back... but just telling you to be awake of the possible problems. Oh and also... once you get tint, youll always wanna keep getting darker

moleskin has a reputation for leaving adhesive residue on hot days, the custom felt that my tint shop uses has no issues.
Just had my 30% removed and replaced with 15% all the way around here in GA. I also have the medical exception form for GA. I had it in my old car, and only got stopped once, this was before I got the medical paper though. Ill be posting pics soon!
I just got 35% all around on my RRP with parchment interior. Kind of wish I had done 20% but I was worried about it being too dark and they didn't have anything in between. I have pics from before and will get the after pics in the same spot at the same time of day this week and post pics...once I have enough posts to allow it...I am new to the forums.
