TINT with Taupe interior
I have an appointment next week for tint. I have an 08 TL, Polished Metal Metallic with Taupe interior. I live in Mass where the state's law is 35%. Since I have Taupe I think it's pretty much pointless to get 35%. I'm stuck between 30% all around (but don't want to deal with cops) or 35% all around and 20% rear windshield. I don't want it too light or too dark. I just want it to look clean. I can't seem to find many pictures with 35/20 combo esp with light interior. Also would 20% in the rear be too dark to see at night?
Any suggestions or pictures would be greatly appreciated!

I'm in Mass went with 35% all around to keep things legal. You could give 30% a try and keep your moonroof shade open at all times to lessen your chance of a run in with the police but it's no guarantee.
Really all depends on where you live/drive in Mass though - some areas tend to be more lenient than others.

It's not illegal here in NC
32% is the lowest reading we can have. I was a bit nervous having 35% installed but I got lucky.

I rocked the 20% (tested at 11%) here on my old car for ~14yrs.
FWIW...
Pulled over twice for it (and No front plate) only got a ticket once for it.
I went 30% tint on the TL last fall. 35% wasn't an option for the tint i got.
15% or 30%. 15% was getting dark...

I have a CBP with Taupe interior; 25% in the rears and 35% in the front.
Hard to tell what color the interior is because of the tint, but it's not too dark either.

$225 for remove the old one and apply 5%, no bubble or anything like that. I had it over a year now under hot Texas sun and yet no problem.
Thnx
You know it man, it keep the sun out and those prying eyes always stare inside your car during red light stop.
Yes I bought the car with one wheel "slightly bent", I keep looking but couldn't see the bent, I am ocd when come to smooth ride so I bought a new wheel from delray Acura instead. Honda switch vendor and apparently they use difference paint (smh), I still have the original wheel tho.

I have a 08 with taupe interior and 20% tint for the rear and 35% in the front.
I regret not going darker. If I could do it all over again I would get 5% for the rears and 20% in the front. Legal limit in Texas is 25% for the front but I would do 20% anyways.
During a bright sunny day you can clearly see inside the car when standing outside next to it. Especially when you are behind the car looking through the rear windshield. I don't like that at all. I blame the bright colored interior. If I were you I would go as dark as possible.
I have a back-up camera so having dark tint while reversing at night isn't too much of a problem.

As for 5%, it's REALLY dark. I have 35/5, and I can't see anything at night when I'm trying to back out. I've resorted to installing 15w HIDs for my reverse, and I still can't see anything unless I'm maybe 1-2 feet from something. I do feel like a gangsta when I roll though...

^^^no way I hell I gonna spend that much time removing tints during 115 degrees with almost 100% humidity. If you are from Houston TX you will understand how brutal the summer heat is.

You can usually remove the tint yourself. Get a razor blade from home depot to start the peel, then spray a mix of 50/50 409 on the tint. Heat it up with a hairdryer and slowly start to peel. takes about 15-20 minutes per window; the hardest part maybe are the smaller windows in the back. Then just use goo gone if there's some sticky residue left, but if you did it correctly it's REALLY minimal, maybe just some small specks. My tint guys wanted to charge me $40 but I did it myself; left like a dime spec and they ended up just charging me $20. You can also find some quick youtube videos on how to do this.

I can only imagine how long it would take to do the rear windshield with the defrost lines. That will take probably a hour alone and you have to be careful not to accidentally cut a defrost line.

I definitely recommend 20% all around. It has worked great and my interior is parchment/ivory for my interior. I took two quick snips before I went to work and after I parked so hope that can give you an idea. I apologize for one of them having a filter in advance and that my car is dirty lol.
Sorry for the filter. The sun is hitting the car from behind it.
No filter when I parked my car from an awkward angle

Do you really want to go through that hassle to save a few bucks? I would imagine you spent a hour doing all 4 windows and still got charged $20 instead of $40.

Defroster lines weren't really messed up either. I just turned the defroster on for the back for about 15 minutes and kept it on while doing the job and simultaneously also blowing the hair dryer over it.
As for dealing with blistering weather...I did during an overcast day where it was maybe 60 degrees outside, so it wasn't like I was baking while doing it.

^I agree, somewhat. I use the old soapy (dawn) & water in a spray bottle, and after leaving the car in the sun, the tint will come off easy. Leaves a little residue, but that's removed with soapy water/razor blade. I've never done the rear (with defroster), my tint guy only charges $20 to remove that window. All 7 windows, done in 30-45min. If you can save a few dollars it's worth it.

mine is parchment and i had 20% all around except the front windshield.
35% is too light and 5% is too dark and illegal in most states. so 20% is just right. but make sure be consistent and apply the same % all around because it looks weird if the back is darker than the side

35% tint in mid afternoon
Here is my baby with 35% tint and a taupe interior. It totally depends on the time of day and how much sun in beating down. 35% seems too light for me when I look at her at different angles . If I had a chance to redo them I would do at 20%. I only went with 35s since I didnt have money to afford for bogus tint tickets.
