Tint shops in NJ

Has anyone gotten their TL tinted at a window tint shop in Hawthorne, NJ...called Sam's Tinting? I spoke to the guy on the phone...was quoted $225 all 5 windows. It seems like a reputable shop and he was very cool to talk to on the phone. He said he's done many TL's already and never had a problem with the Navi interference from the tint, which was a concern of mine. He said they use a low metallic tint.
If anyone has gotten their car tinted here, I would appreciate some opinions/feedback.
Has anyone experienced any Navi problems directly related to the tint?
Thanks

I cant tell you anything about that sop. But I can tell you that we send all of customers in NJ to Applied Film Technologies in Kenilworth for clear bras and tint. Lee over there takes really good care of our customers and never have we had a complaint. If you want a second quote give him a call at

Tropic Window Tinting...Union, NJ

Check out the "Where are you from in NJ" thread...it seems like a few others got their tint there and all seems pretty satisfied.

As for problems w/Navi...can't say I've had any problems.

Can't remember the line from Tommy Boy re: guarantee...but it's fitting..I'm hoping someone else will, if so please post.

Anyways, I think it comes down to the quality in how the tint is put on. You can have the best tint in the world guaranteed and everything, but if it's not put on right it'll look like crap. I had my first car tinted in NYC for like $150 and didn't know any better thought it looked fine, but my next car I paid $250 and it was a world of difference. It was done so professionally and looked absoultely amazing.

What type of tint film did they use and did it include moleskin?

I'm interested in this as well as a few friends. I'd like to hook up a bulk deal with an installer that will guarantee lifetime warranty.

He didn't say anything regarding moleskin, but did say it's lifetime warranty.
They use computer cut film. I believe the brand they use is LLumar.
I'm from the Rutherford area in Bergen County

The Tint Shop in Edison, great place!!

I just had my second car tinted at The Tint Shop in Edison, NJ. They are great. Never had a problem with their tints. Got all 5 windows on my '05 done for $200 (includes tax).

I never gave much thought about tinting. But I saw a Black CL the other day with tinted windows and it looked good. Now I am reading this thread and thinking ~$200 is not that bad of a price.

But I have a question about the "legality" of tinted windows in NJ. Are there any laws against it? Perhaps above a certain %?

it dosn't neccesarilly mean that they will pull you over...i know plenty of people who have tints all around and only one of them has gotten pulled over and gotten caught but thats because he was speeding and the tints were a double whammy...the only thing id be worried about is inspection...

I'm from Morris County, NJ...lookin to get my windows done. Anyone have any success at any of tha aformnetioned places? My cousin says there's no place like Tropic - I might check them out.

Bigger question - where do you people from Jersey get your inspection done? I know you can't pass with front tints...do you take it off for inspection? Or anyone know anyplace nearby that will pass it?

Ha, try finding a shop that would tell you: "Yeah, we did have problems with TLs before.." This is business! I got ripped on the same promise, good for me I have lifetime warranty so I can have my scratched tint replaced anytime.

On a serious note, search this forum, I remember reading a thread a few weeks back with good comments on mettalic tint affects on NAVI by one of the moderators here I think. The point was: sure, NAVI may still work, but the number of receiving satelllites and precision may be lost. Pick your poison.

TL Tints

I got my windows tinted at the Tint Shop located in Edison, NJ. This is the second Acura I have had tinted at this place and they do an outstanding job! No bubbles, no interference with the Navi, and no hassles. They charged me $200 to do 5 windows (35% all around, except windshield).

i take my Acura to a private mechanic to get it inspected. I think it is about $50 to get it inspected, but well worth the money!

I live in Edison, do you ever get hassled by the police for the front tints?

Tint

I just called Applied Film Technologies in Kennilworth and was quoted $190 for my '06 TL.

Anyone have any recommendations for the Clifton area?

I am not sure what brand or grade they put on. You can probably give them a call and find out. Overall, they are a great place to go to!

Regarding the po-po, I was pulled over in Shrewsbury, NJ for speeding (but I was doing 36 in a 35 zone), but the officer just wanted to bust my balls about my tint. They gave me an Inpection Violation ticket, which ended up begin $56. No biggie, at least there are no points involved. I work in Edison and they seem to not even care about the tints, it seems that the further south you go in New Jersey, the more the give a crap about your tints.

Can you give me the address or phone number of your mechanic so I can get my car inspected without failing for my tint? I'm coming up on my first inspection next month and would like to avoid getting my tint removed.

If anyone else knows of places that will pass a car for tint with some cash, please let me know.

If you want your tint done right check out K-Stylin on 20's in the photo section for 3 generation TLs. After observing the installation, check out (www.lorenzotint.com). Let me know what you think of the custom tint on RRP TL.

Yes they do the 2 smaller windows in the back, but they don't do it correctly. Also, they install moleskin but it's $30 extra, and the warranty is lifetime (depending on which you choose...they have a package for $180 + tax for 3 year warranty, which i'm pretty sure will fade, and a $230,i think, + tax for lifetime warranty)

Lorenzo Tint

I emailed Lorenzo Tint for a quote and they replied saying....

"$350.00 & includes 3M [CS] OR MADICO[XSR CHAR] color stable technology film, micro edge doors, full cut vents, and one section rear window. We also include 4dr moleskin installation no extra charge for TL"

$350 seems like a lot....for reading on the forums the average priced looked to be around $230.

what do you guys think?
