Tint question

Tried searching for an answer but couldn't find anything. Has anyone tinted the blueish plastic license plate surround that has the reverse lights? The whole back of my car is blacked-out and it just stands out. I was thinking about just removing it (is this possible?) and spraying it with a coat of VHT nightshades, or just taking it to a tint shop. Anyway, if anyone has done this please post pics, I'd love to see the outcome!

I've never seen anyone do this but it's possible. I would take it out and VHT it. It would cost less than a tint shop doing it.

Would the reverse lights still be visible through the vinyl?

Correct. It's been done. Someone posted pics, but I don't remember who.

You cut-out around the reverse lights.

No. This is a bad idea to use vinyl. I'd use the Nightshades or a very light tint.

Well I picked up some of the VHT today, disassembling the truck area to get to the licenese plate surround area was a pain but I think It will be worth it. Just waiting for the final clear coat to dry. I also picked up a 'black chrome' effect spray and decided to paint the silver garnish above the license plate with that... not too sure if I like it. I'm considering just painting it black to blend with the rest of the car. Would it be too much black? :/
