So I've been calling around to get my 08 TL tinted. One place quoted me 250 bucks for ceramic 3M tint and stated that they can only put ceramic tint on my car since any metallic tint will cause interference with my Bluetooth, Navigation, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

I called another place around town that charges 80 bucks less for ceramic tint and asked him about what the other place said. He told me it sounded like they were full of crap, he's never heard that one before. He did charge 150 for regular metallic tint.

After searching here, I've heard mixed things about this. Is it safe to get metallic tint? Thoughts? I'm looking to get 20% all around on my NBP TL.

Get the ceramic film...always always always get the ceramic films...yes they might be pricerier...however well worth the cost...DO NOT FORGET THE FELT PROTECTION STRIPS ON YOU TL!!!!...ceramic does better in ways of heat rejection as well as no negative affects on the RF bands commonly used by electronics...buck up and spend the money...i spent 450 on my tint for Formula One Pinnacle 15% on all 8 windows including FELT PROTECTION!!!

I have 35% Ceramic tint all over and i dont have any problems with radio or any other stuff. Mine gf nissan has 20% metallic tint all over she has sometimes problem with XM. But for bluetooth, TPMS and navi she never ever had any problem.

I paid 350 here in houston @ star accessories

Well, I'm scheduling an appointment to get ceramic tint on Friday or Saturday. Sounds like that's the better way to go, the place here guarantees it's warranted from scratches, defects, etc.

That is the exact tint I am getting except mine will be street legal 35%. Formula One quoted me $395 for seven windows (they count the small windows in the rear doors separate) and the moleskin protection. I agree, get it done right the first time. Nothing looks worse than tint with bubbles in it. My friend has a black c-class with a $199 dollar tint job and trust me, it looks like she should have paid HALF that with all the little bubbles in the side doors and rear window. Save up if you need to but pay to have it done CORRECTLY!!!

ceramic tint is what is good, METALLIC is BAD. metallic will interfere with cell phone signals, Homelink range, navigation system accuracy, Radio (FM/AM accuracy and it may damage the heater lines on the rear window. Stick with ceramic. Also don't forget moleskin
