tint to dark?

okay so i waited till i moved to LA to get my windows tinted. thinkin it would be more chill out here. ive seen so many nice cars with REALY dark mirrors. i asked a few people at my school if the cops cared about it and they mostly said no. so i go and get it. the guy at the shop told me 30% was the limit but he recommended 20 front 5 back. but me being me :shakehead i decided on 5 back 15 front...but now its almost too dark. everyone who said go for it before is tellin me to watch out for cops now lol...but if i dont have any troubles in a few months imma throw 40 or 35 on the windshield

If you see a cop just roll down your windows hehe. My fiance has 5% all around on her truck and whenever I drive that thing I just have to be on the lookout all the time lol

If a cop pulls you over just roll down the windows and leave your sunroof cover open or even the entire sunroof itself.

The cop can still ask you to roll the windows up, and if they're slightly tinted, that's cause for a ticket.

But, the TL typically flies under the radar. Just pick your places to speed carefully.

man dont be nervous now if 30% is the state law and ur worried about the cops, then u shouldnt have gotten it less than the 30%
im in NY on my last car i had 5% all around, but i never got a tint ticket (lucky me) but i definitely wouldnt do my windshield... thats just an invitation for trouble with the dark tints all around

I just did 20% all around, and I don't think I would go any darker than that. It takes a little getting used to. At night when I'm turning I've had to train myself to look harder than normal to make sure that I'm actually clear the way I'm turning.

Per http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/answers.html , no aftermarket tint is allowed.

I recall reading that if the front windows come factory-tinted, then up to 30% is permissible.

hey i figured if i did get a tint ticket... 20% is the same as 5% so i might as well do the 5 plus at the time i used to creep around a lot didnt want people to know who was in the car or who was driving. but i know one things for certain, if u get 5% be prepared to enhance your eye sight because in the nite time you'll barely be able to see if someones standing right outside your door

i think 35% is like the cutoff after that you can realize that the windshield is tinted because after you go below 35% your registration will look black and not white and thats how cops can tell in NY atleast but i went to get my inspection at a place that is owned by family friends and i said something to the guy about my windshield being tinted and the kid didnt even notice cause the light inside there shop but i guess it depends

my 20% tint reads out at 14% with the meter because of the 94% factory tint...that extra 6% difference is what gets folks most of the time!!

Dayam man, isn't it too dark already if you tint the windshield? I got 50% front 20%rear. Good enough for me. Don't forget the moleskin too.

PEACE!

bdown62007 - Your car looks good. Going darker than the limit is like asking for trouble. Just be careful during those month ends when cops pull you over for just about anything. I get frequent migraines and light makes it even worse..so I had 35% all over but with the black leather, it looks darker than it really is.
