Tint and clear bra
Just Ordered my 6MT, black w/ ebony, & navi
(including under body kit, deck lid spoiler, body side molding, 18" rims w/ ES 100 Yokos) !!!
Delivery in mid january.
Just wondering if i should get the tint from the dealership or third party...and also should i get darker in the back and legal in the front or just do all legal (prob)...
(on the side, does anyone know the darkest legal in Texas)?
any suggestions ?

I'd check your prices first. Call around and see what the independents will charge. By the way what dealer are you getting your TL from? Sometimes dealer prices are okay and sometimes they are way too high.
Also, be warned that a high metalic film can effect your navigation system, so be careful what type of tint you use for the back window.
I had Xtreme Auto Tint up on 1960 do my previous car (Honda CR-V) and the tint was flawless for 4 years.
Also let me know if you find someone to do a clear bra. I have a list from the 3M web site but haven't called anyone. My dealer didn't do it and I hesitate to have another car dealer do it because they will probably charge too much. One independent 3M film installer I've found is Dent Magic (713-882-4055) but I haven't had a chance to call them yet.
Let me know if you discover a good clear bra/protection film installer....

well i would recommend that you get it from the dealer if they offer it...because if something does go wrong in the future, then at least you know they will fix it becuase some auto shops are bunch of @$$hole$....i got mine done through an auto shop because dealers in NJ don't offer it...i don't think that the dealers themselves do the tinting, they have the auto shop people do it for them...but the warranty probably comes from both the auto shop AND THE DEALER, and that's where it's really helpful........and in my car, i went with 35% all around...all 5 windows, it looks SWEET
i don't like it when there are different shades throughout the car...it doesn't look as nice...

I am getting the car from DAVID MCDAVID ACURA in Plano, TX.
Yeah, about the tinting I am gonna have to call around and get the best price. But, you had a good point about getting it from the dealer...so if any problems occur later on then its all covered.
Also, the clear bra...will have to call around...also will visit 3M website...can you give me the website for 3M and/or places where i could call around houston to get some prices on it.
Since I am going to be driving my TL back from Plano (near Dallas) to houston do you think that I should get the clear bra there and drive back with no risk or just wait till i get to houston and get it done from here...i dont want any bug marks or anything on my new TL... do you'll think in a 4 hour drive primarely on the freeway, it can mess up the front that it wont come out from washing/waxing the car or it wont be a big deal???
Also, what are you'll thoughts about BODY SIDE MOLDING....will it look good... I mean I live in houston...and it could be beneficial...but dont want to mess up the nice looks of my TL either...

Try this web site for the 3M info: http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-168/clelFFC/view.jhtml The site has a list of dealers.
Also I posted pics of my Abyss Blue with side molding, do a search in the form for body side molding and you can probably find those pics.
I don't know what color your TL is, but I think the molding looks better on the darker colors because it blends in more. It stands out more on the silver and white. IMHO I wouldn't go without it, especially in Houston and if you ever park the car in public lots.
As for the driving risk from Big D to Houston. It has been a couple of years since I was on I-45. Guess it depends on how much crud there is on the road...

I made my decision by looking at similar colors with and without the body molding that my dealer had in stock and based my decision on that. I just got lucky, though, our southside dealer had some with and some without all in a row.
