Arrow Timing belt , maintenance

I have a 2005 Acura TL with 112,00 miles on it. Regular maintenance is all that it has required in six years.A maintenance alert indicate that its time for a new timing belt, new spark plugs, plus I'm going to need new tires soon--roughly 2500-3000 dollars to keep this car , which I love and has never had a problem.Do you think that it's time for a new TL or would you suggest going thru with these repairs? Thanks

First it shouldn't be that expensive. The Timing Belt service at a dealership should be $800 - $1200 depending on the dealership. You can get a good set of new tires (Conti DWS, for example) for ~$600.

That's $1800 toward the upper end.

Second, if you don't do those things you will lose ~$2000 in trade/resale value.

IOW - money-wise, it's a wash.

All depends on your bank account-Spend $3000 and keep the car operating properly, or drop maybe another $30 grand on a new one.
$3,000 vs. $30,000, your choice.

If the TL has been good to you, pay your dues. If not, pick up a Yaris.

drrich,
Where are you located? A NJ dealer has had a superb deal on timing belt replacement for a while.

Do the repairs. You will get nothing for it with the Maintenance light on. Plus....like Bearcat said it is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.

If you're a baller, get a new car, if not, don't.

Don't believe you're asking this question. $2,000-$3000 to maintain or buying another car for at least $15+k?

If you choose to do the work on your own....

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/timing-belt-special-still-going-strong-%40-%24299-shipped-819990/

Call the dealerships out in your area and see if they have deals. Also check the Honda dealers. We have a dealer in NJ that will get you out the door for under $500 with the tensioner and tax.
