Timing Belt '05, 141,100 miles

Thought I would post up my t-belt information ie; statistics for you guys. I have a 05 with 141,100 miles, daily driven 90 miles round trip with approx 10 of those miles being on a dirt road suited best for trucks and rally cars. Needless to say im not easy on my car and neither are the deer... Anyways I ordered the t-belt kit from rockwell. Upon removing my T-belt I noticed no significant signs of wear,of course I have had one break on a 91 acura integra and by the looks if it wasnt broken you would say it was fine also. Water pump still in really good shape, no excessive play, tensioner pully and tensioner in really suprisingly good shape as well. I knew I had a ticking time bomb on my hands with mileage, year etc. but was really shocked to see how good things looked. On the other hand because of the terrible dirt roads I travel in on to and from work I did have a passenger motor mount completely busted, explains excessive vibration from the front end; stud fully broken away from mount. Given I was doing this on the weekend and a honda dealership miles away I did perform the 3m window weld treatment which has held up ok for now, no further inspection has been performed but a new mount is on the way. thats it ; cheers

Glad you finally decided to do that, 141k miles is quite a lot. It's supposed to be changed at 105k.

But either good luck or Honda has held up well, good to know!

With my work schedule and family dedicating a full day to this procedure has been nearly impossible; I will say this has been one of the easiest t-belt jobs I have done; as previously mentioned 91 integra;98 integra itr; 02 honda accord; 95 dodge avenger-water pump took a crap at 95k miles. And yes honda does make a very good product; only to be rivaled by dare I say toyota camry as far as totally ragging goes, neglecting oil changes etc...but thats a different subject *cough outside door handles breaking off in your hand cough* thats all...

you have to consider the engineers at honda have to build in a mileage with a safety margin. It shouldnt be on the verge of breaking at 105k.

i too have had a belt break in a DA integra. those things had very little safety margin in terms of belt design.

I just changed mine last weekend at about 90k, and just like you everything seemed to be in really good shape still. Better safe than sorry though, and it is a very easy job as far as timing belts go, as I understand. It took the better part of an afternoon with 3 of us working on it.

Good deal, OP. Glad you got around to changing it and yes Honda does make good products. I have a friend who constantly keeps driving her car around with a low oil level. It's an 07 Accord. I asked her about it tonight and she was like it's ok I still have 30% left. I was like that's the oil life, not the oil level! She reminded me that I told her a month ago that she needed to add oil...

121,000 here and haven't done the belt yet. I've had all parts just sitting in the spare bedroom for years, just haven't had the time to do it. I did the valve adjustment at 113,000 miles thinking I would do the timing belt thr following weekend but that didn't happen and I wish I had done the belt first. I just drive it nice and try to keep the rpms down. The first weekend that's in the 80s or below I'm going to have to do it.
